Hi there,

I've been checking out this website for ages now, but hadn't had the guts to actually join until now!!

Just wanted to say 'hi' and give a quick intro about me... I live in London, am 31 years old, married, and 6 weeks pregnant today - yay! My EDD is 5th May 2011. So I would love to hear from anyone else who has the same date.

This is my second pregnancy as I unfortunately lost my first pregnancy to miscarriage in January this year (I was 11 weeks gone when it happened, although the baby died at around 6 weeks, but I didn't know). I have to admit that I'm absolutely terrified this time round... have cut out alcohol, coffee and even the gym (the latter was on my doctor's orders). Have been having a few stabbing pains, then niggling stomach cramps, and even some spotting. I'm terrified in case I'm just carrying around a sad little empty sac (like before), I don't think I could go through that heartache again. I thnk my 'morning' sickness kicked in today though, so I'm hoping that's a good sign. Other than that, I don't really 'feel' pregnant!!

My doctor has reassured me that this is all quite normal and I shouldn't worry... is anyone getting paranoid or is it just me???

Big hugs,
london_gal

Hi and welcome!

Congrats on your BFP sorry to hear about your misscarriage.

I think its normal to worry this is my first pregnancy so ive never had a misscarriage thankfully. I always thought when i got to 12 weeks i would stop worrying and how wrong i was =(.

My son doesnt move much especially the past week and i have been sooo worried. I still even check for blood when i go the toilet (TMI sorry!!)

The worrying never stops and when my son is here i will be worrying about him lol!

Sorry to ramble. Congrats again :)

xx

Thank you!! Its such a relief to finally be talking to other Mums2Be about this very scary experience. And great to know that I'm not alone with my paranoia! Congrats on your pregnancy too!! :hugs:

Its normal to worry i wish we could all have a worry free pregnancy though :(.

I understand why you are more worried with having a misscarriage. It worried me just reading about them but now im getting further a long im worried about giving birth to a stillborn =(. I know a person who was my age at the time who sadly gave birth to a stillborn :(.

And my nan didnt help yesterday telling me she give birth to a stillborn boy 10 days over due. Uh thanks !!

Sorry rambling again. Even though its hard try not to worry and keep off google as it will make you worry 100x more

Hope you have a happy and healthy 9 months! xxx

thanks for the congrats too! I'm SO excited yet nervous :( x

hello~ I'm so very glad you joined!

I feel pregnancy is very stressful for me too. just stay confident and have faith.
Stress can do bad things to the baby, and i'm sure you want to have a happy baby not a stressed on. Haha

I hope your little bean sticks this time!!

Congratulations and welcome to b&b!

I know how hard it is to be positive after a miscarriage but you must try, it really is much better for you and baby sweetie. All of the symptoms you have listed i have had, all perfectly normal! I haven't had a bleed this time but when carrying my daughter i had 2 heavy bleeds, at one point i was losing clots and everything but all was fine.

I wish you all the luck in the world honey xxxx

Hi LondonGal,

I know how you feel, i had a mm/c at 11 weeks in Feb and it is really hard to relax and not be consumed by the worry that it will happen again. This is a really good site for support, the ladies here have a great deal of experience and are so supportive it is unreal. Perhaps you coud get a private scan, unless your GP agrees to an early scan, as that may help to relax you? good luck!

I'm trying this whole "think positive" thing. I'm very excited for you also! haha

Thank you so much for sharing your story with me. By some miracle, I seem to have found an amazing GP who understood my worries without question, and has got me an early scan date next week. I'll be 7 weeks by then, so I'm hoping (sooooo much!) that we will something really positive... maybe even a HB! :)

This site really helps though - everyone is so helpful and supportive. It's so difficult when you can't share anything with friends or family!!

hi im libby i am a week behind you..
i also lost my first at 6 weeks found out at 7 weeks was so sad i hope i never have to go through that again. i read on this website that there is a book can not remember the name but anyway this lady says that your first pregnancy is a practice round for your body so most first pregnancies end in m/c because your body was just learning, and your second goes on to be a full term pregnancy. This does not work for everyone although they do say every period could be a potiential m/c so some ladies would of had them and not even know about them.

sorry i am just blabbing on now i am just trying to say that this lady in this book says its very normal to m/c #1 and have a very healthy baby second time around, i keep telling myself that.

xx

Thank you Libby! Thats really comforting to know. I've read that if they find a HB at my scan next week, then there is a 78% chance that I will carry the baby full term. Scary to think, but a small nugget of hope for now at least.

Wishing you the very best of luck with your pregnancy too!! Congrats!

Congrats! Im due May 3rd, with twins! =] Since you had a previous m/c when will your first u/s be? I hope you see a heart flicker and hear the heartbeat when you do get your u/s, i just had mine and seeing two little flickering hearts beating 111bpm each, ugh its AMAZING! I wish you a very very sticky baby! Good luck.

Congratulations london gal, I am almost exactly the same as you. 31, in london and have had previous MMC this year. I have the fear as last time I couldn't pinpoint when anything went wrong. This time I have had a bit of morning sickness and very achy boobs, but my skin has cleared up a treat (it was out of control after the MC). I will be due at the end of April. Trying not to get too excited, just hoping for the best. Good luck xxx

you are so right - i m/c my first pregnancy last year in august - and my midwife said that so many womens first pregnancies end in m/c as it is a practice round! and is a new thing - so second time around your bosy wont see it as being something that isnt right

i think it makes sense.

i hope this was the case for me

its odd coz my friend had a m/c first time she was preg - now she is preg with her 2nd baby and is 12weeks had her first scan yest! i have spoken to so many women - women i work with etc who have had a m/c th first time they were preg then gone on to have one, two or more children!

do you get an early scan if you have m/c previously?

my midwife is coming to see me on monday so will ask her then, xx

Hi,

I'm fairly new to this site too. I will be 6 weeks on Sunday so only a couple of days behind you. I've had some spotting today which has really got me worried. I spoke to the nurse who said that this is normal but it doesn't stop me being scared.

Good luck with your pregnancy.

Congrats, and welcome a board! I really hope this is a sticky bean for you, and you are able to worry less and enjoy being pg again...:hugs:

Wow! Thank you so much for all your amazing replies and advice!! I'm starting to feel a little calmer now. Just taking each day as it comes at the moment!

I started to get really bad pains in my stomach the other night, and I have been spotting too (sorry TMI!), so I asked the nurse at my GP the next day, as I had a regular check up booked in with her. She was absolutely useless. Said that she was trained in pregnancy stuff and wasn't supposed to give any advice! Seriously, what is the point of having nurses at your GP surgery, if they can't give any advice?!? Just makes them glorified administrators in my book now! (Sorry for the rant.) Anyway, I told her that this was my second pregnancy, as I'd lost my first to a slient miscarriage, and she got really confused and thought I'd meant I'd already had a child - she started asking me whether I'd had a boy or a girl...! I was so upset by this time, that she went off to ask my GP about the pain and spotting, then returned about 10 mins later to tell me not to worry.

Don't get me wrong I really like my new GP - she's very understanding and helped me through my miscarriage (although she did once make me cry - but I'll tell you about that another time!). But this nurse was shockingly useless. So, my advice to mums2be on here is bypass the nurses if you're worried - go straight to your GP if you're worried!

Anyway, some good news is that my lovely GP has managed to get me an early scan on Friday next week. I know not everyone gets this, so I am *extrememly* grateful! I'll be 7weeks 1 day by then, so I'm really hoping to see and hear some positive news. Has anyone else had an early scan or is getting one? Would be great to hear your stories.

xxx :)

Hi Rennie - thanks for your message! How strange that we are so similar!

Congrats on your pregnancy! How far along are you now?

My morning sickness has really kicked in within the last couple of days, so I guess you have to be careful what you wish for! Lol.

I started off trying not to get too excited about it, after last time. But just lately I cant help myself. I think I will definitely feel better after my early scan next week. Good luck with your pregnancy too. xxx
