What are you buying for babies due mid-summer? And where on earth can you buy nice neutral/boy's summer clothes? LO was an August baby and I remember being stuck for clothes and having to just take him out in a vest and feeling very under prepared.

My lo was born in the July 2013 heatwave.

She mostly wore rompers (short sleeved, short legged). I found the nicest ones from Boots and TU. She used to always wear socks as her feet were always freezing and the midwife told me too, she had prem socks from Mothercare as her feet were tiny.

In the house she wore nappy, or bodysuit. She would usually wear a bodysuit and cellular blanket for bed.

For boy perhaps bodysuit & cotton shorts. M&co do lovely shorts I've seen, and TU.

But yeah it was rompers here for 5/6 weeks.

Ahh I love rompers, they're so so cute!

We were buying for a friends son born last summer and debenhams had lovely little rompers for boys - some that looked like short sleeved rugby tops but buttoned up and in airtex so breathable, some that looked like cotton shirts, etc. Obvioudly easier for girls and I think you may be stuck time gender neutral as they'll look like vests.

We are due in June so I've no idea what the weather will be like! Lg was born in late November but the hospital was do hot that I had her in a vest and booties a lot if the time so just taking vests for time there.

Happy shopping!

I've gone with plenty of rompers, quite a few long and short sleeved vests which I'm guessing will be worn around the house on their own if it's a really hot one, loads of trouser/t shirt combos and some light cardigan/jacket type things in case it's a washout. And of course loads of the light cotton hats and socks. I'm in the south of England so I've bought for all weathers really. I even have a teeny tiny raincoat. Oh, and I have some shorts! In 3-6 I have loads of long sleeved vest/dungaree combos which I'm hoping will be perfect for autumn with a little jacket over.

Thanks! I have clothes for if it's colder, but I have nothing for a heatwave, and I didn't like taking LO out in just a vest cos I felt uncomfortable and like I hadn't prepared enough for him? IDK

I have three pairs of shorts (these:

) but can't find any nice unisex rompers or summer tops, or even vests that would look cute with the shorts. LOADS for girls, but nothing for boys! Apparently boys aren't ever born in summer time :dohh:

It might still be a bit early, I doubt many shops have their summer range yet. You'd be better off waiting it out a bit and you might have more choice x

I love asda for baby clothes. There boys range is getting better but it's still not as good as girls. I've also found this year matalan has some wonderful babies clothes, I stood crying in the shop (damn pregnancy hormones). Also as pp has said maybe a little closer to summer the stores will have better summer clothes x

DS wore a lot of rompers and even just plain onesies, it gets hot here it isn't unusual to see babies with just a onesie on.

Love babies in just vests! That's what I'm planning here (Dubai) long sleeved probably with blankets/socks for feet and legs when inside.

And sleep suits.

I got a few last time from boots. And ebay!!

I'm due 7 July and have loads of short sleeved baby vests on. A few long sleeved ones as well but I don't think baby will need more than that?

My youngest son was a July baby and I had him in rompers or short dungarees. On really hot days he would just be in a vest. I find for boys there really isn't much choice clothes wise as there is for girls x

Thanks! They're from Elfie, got them in the sale! It's such gorgeous quality stuff that I always go crazy when they have a sale on.

My 15 year old spent his baby years in NW Arkansas, which gets crazy hot. We pretty much kept him in onesies. Now I live in a city that is a good 10 degrees cooler, but honestly I have not planned anything beyond some nightgowns, onesies, vests, and socks. :haha: I am more concerned about the winter where we spend quite a bit of time in Michigan, which gets very cold. This Texas girl doesn't handle the cold very well. Hubby thinks 40 degrees is T-shirt weather, while I am decked out in 10 layers of clothing, lol.
