Im almost ready to leave 2nd tri but not entirely ready to post there yet lol
So can any ladies recommend a good nipple cream? I plan on breast feeding and have heard you need to start with the cream and while all the baby offers are on I thought I'd stock up!

Xx

A lot will say Lanisoh, but I thought it was a bit pricey. I used Kamillosan after every feed and never had a problem...and it doubles as a bum cream if you run out. xx

everyone told me to get lanisoh, but tbh my nipples were that sore i cudnt even stand to touch them! breastmilk is good actually!

Lasinoh is great but like an above poster said breast milk is good also!

Oh yeah, using the cream after each feed helps stop them cracking, but putting boob milk on and leaving it to dry works well as a healer as well x

Oooh thanks ladies I never knew that one! (1st time mummy here)
Our bodies really are fab! :)

Mother Love Nipple Balm is what I used with my son...loved it and it was much thinner than the lansinoh...good luck.

totally agree! lansinoh, or any pure lanolin product is great, but breastmilk is fatty to help moisturize and has natural antibiotic properties too. :)

pure lanolin...any brand. it's awesome and safe for the baby

i have found lanisoh is the only one that helped at all for me

thanks for this, i think im gonna get some, my issue with lanisoh was that it was so thick and sticky it hurt sooo much to put it on!

Jings Im so naive. Do you nipples crack and bleed like when you get chapped lips? Does everyone get that or just some people. My sister had blisters and bleeding and it looked agony (she stopped breastfeeding cause of it) but I thought it just happened to just some people. How sore is it? :(

I used avent when i was breastfeeding dd2 it was half the price of lanisoh
BUT...i was in sainsburys the other week and 33% off lanisoh so got myself a tube. tip pit it in the fridge when you start breastfeeding cools and soothes nipples x

Think it was lansinoh that I used and this was because the midwife gave me loads of sachets when I was bleeding. It was definately a good soother!

Hey Sunshine.

Just wanted to let you know that no, not everyone gets like this. I didn't get cracked or bleeding nipples. I got sore in the beginning, but anything would if it isn't used to being sucked constantly!

Sometimes it's a bad latch that causes it, as it's not just the baby sucking that draws the milk out, it's the position of their chin and jaw. If their head is tilted back enough that their nose is clear but their chin is tucked in nicely, they will get more milk without having to suck quite as hard, therefore saving some of the pain in your nipples!

But it still gets sore in the first couple of weeks simply because you're not used to it. I know some mum's who didn't get sore at all!

Hope that helps set your mind at ease a little x

Thats what i was thinking while all the offers are on i might get some. Think i might try some- and i will definitely be putting it in the fridge thanks for the tip! :) x

Thanks glitterbug. Yes thats really helpful and has put my mind at rest too. Im getting more and more scared of breastfeeding as time goes on. :(

Please don't be scared of it. It is amazing, honestly. Some really don't get on with it, but once you're past the first few weeks it comes so naturally (well usually!!)

You hear horror stories about labour too but it was nowhere near as bad for me as I was warned it would be. It's all about having PMA. If you believe you'll be able to do it and be fine with it all, you probably will!

listen to glitterbug!! she knows her stuff!

Lansinoh all the way for me as well...when I stopped using it religously after every feed my nipples were sooo painful!! I found rubbing and warming it between my fingers a bit made it easier to put on :winkwink:
