Hi ladies. Does colostrum come out through a nipple shield or is it too think or not enough of it? Just wondering because it took like 3 lactation consultants and a week of pumping and bottle feeding for someone to hand me a nipple shield that worked like a charm but will it help from the get go? That is if she won't latch.

Thanks for the help.

It works right from the get go :) do you have flat nipples?

I was using the nipple shield to help with latching and sore nipples and it worked like a charm and now I don't have to use it as often. Hope it works well for you. :flower:

I didn't have to use a nipple shield but my sister did with her LO, it should work perfectly since it's like them having a nipple on a bottle.

We used a shield while inhospital so that was all colostrum and came out fine - got off shield ASAP at home though. :)

I use a nipple shield and it works great ... LO is now 4 weeks old
