No af, waiting on bfp

I've been a lurker here this month. My dh and I have been ttc #1. I am over 35. We met late in life. Neither of us have children. We weren't tracking until this month. We finally got into a fertility specialist last month (was recommended we go right away because of age), and we decided we needed to get super serious this cycle before we started any fertility treatments for the next cycle. Started using ovulation strips and discovered I ovulate way later than the apps were telling me (I have about a 33/34 day cycle). It seems like we did everything right this time around. I am now 13 dpo, cd 36 and af usually visits cd 34 or 35, giving me about a 12-day luteal phase. She is now late according to my usual cycle length. Worried that maybe my cycle is just long this month.

Every test has been bfn. Going to buy some more sensitive tests tomorrow and test Tuesday morning (5/22). Having lots of symptoms: feeling sick, cramping, achy joints, difficulty sleeping, irritable. Breasts are a little achy, but not tender to the touch like I would have thought. I feel like I am pregnant, but I just wish I could get a bfp. Just looking for others who might have some of the same symptoms or advice. I am at 5 weeks today.

I am now, I think, 16 dpo and 5 days past my period. I have symptoms, feeling sick and breast pain. Continue to get bfn. Called dr and I have an appointment for Tuesday if af doesn't come before then. I do not expect af to come. Even though this would be my first, every sign points to a bfp, but I just can't get them on the tests yet. So frustrating! I am 37 years old, and this is my first and I just want to know one way or the other. I am trying to remain optimistic because I have never missed a period before and we did all the right things this month.

Anyone else in the same boat? Anyone else get a late bfp?

Honestly it’s best to just wait for your dr appt than to stress about it. As late as you are if you are certain when you ovulated then honestly it’s probably less than 50/50 if you are pregnant. I hope you are though as I can see you want it so much.

Why do you think there is only 50/50 chance? I have never been late on a period, and I am quite a few days off at this point and with lots of other symptoms.

I think she’s means 50/50 because there are only two possible outcomes, like flipping a coin, you either are pregnant or you’re not. There really isn’t anything in between.

I understand your anxiety so much. We tried for a little over 2 years before we got pregnant with baby #2. Every time AF was even slightly late it gave me hope. This time, though, I was right! I tested with cheapie dip strips and only got a very faint positive the day after AF was due. Then I got a FRER and the line was much brighter! Hang in there.

Awww, yes, that makes more sense to word it that way. I read it a different way.

AF is very late this cycle, which is what makes this really frustrating because all the signs are there except for the bfp. I've read that some people take longer to produce the hormones, so I'll still be testing. Not much else I can do but wait and test.

Good luck. I personally haven't experienced late BFP but a friend of mine has so definitely possible. Hope you get your BFP!
