Calling all welsh ladies/those living in Wales.
I'm currently in Cardiff and have been told that the nhs here does not offer nt scan measurements- just a blood test at 15 weeks?!'
I'm pretty annoyed about this!
Anyone else have this in Wales?

Read the title wrong!

I'm not sure on NT scan as I was never offered it I dont think with my first, if you are high risk guess its different. Are you with UHW? If so give them a ring or your midwife x

I think they do nt screening and the high/ low risk assessment but not the detailed blood tests up here in north wales. Off to see the midwife in an hour so I will find out then.

They don't do them in my area ether. If you want it you have to go private.

It's not offered routinely here (Gloucestershire) but you can now pay to have it done privately at GRH. This wasn't an option earlier this year.

There are some private clinics that do it here- it's about £185. Really annoying when most get it for free, grrrr!!

Just back from the midwives, NT screening is not offered at the 12 week scan, they only look for major anomalies in the limbs etc, check for a heartbeat, check baby is in the right place and check how many babies you're carrying.

You then have the Downs blood test at 15-18 weeks which gives the high/low risk assessment so you can be offered amino or CVS if you are high risk.

Finally your 20 week scan is the major anomaly scan.

I think we're going to scrape together the cash for an NT scan and bloods at 11.5 weeks. It costs £180 so replacing our broken fire will have to wait and all my maternity clothes will be coming from eBay this time!
