not engaged, no wedding date but starting to think and plan

My OH and I have been together for just over 2 years, we have an 8 month old daughter and I want to get married!

We have discussed it and it is on the table but no date or year set and engagement - well he said 2 months ago it would be in the next 6 months so I am holding him to that.

Ideally we need to get married in school holidays due to a family of teachers. We will be on a strict budget and don't want anything too traditional.

I am not the kinda girl to wear a dress, not worn one for years however in a way I want to wear a wedding dress, it would shock and surprise a lot of people and I am in the process of losing a lot of weight so am hoping I will feel more confident in a dress when I have lost more weight.

I want it to be quirky and memorable. I have a few ideas and have seen a lovely venue online which leads on to a shamble beach. I fear this however will be way out of our budget.

we have thought of blue and maybe white for the colour scheme - although I would like lilac/purple.

We are having a sweetie buffet and a photobooth and are also hoping to book a Disney character to come and make an appearance in the night lol

we are big kids too. OH is saying no to ice cream van because people would have to go outside and couldn't guarentee the weather etc. - spoil sport but i can let that go if I have my sweetie buffet!

We will be doing it ourselves. OH should be able to get a makro card via his dad so will hopefully get a lot of sweets from there. Will also get cheap mints from one of the supermarket.

already been looking at dresses - needs to be cheap and due to being an ex-self harmer I want longish sleeve to cover the tops of my arms.

Were making our sweetie buffet aswel sooo much cheaper,I wil also attempt to make a sweetie tree hoping to have a slush puppy machine in the night aswel
maybe go and try a few dresses on and then after you know what style suits you have a look on eBay/preloved
having something with sleeves I'm sure will be no problem even if the dree you fall in love with doesn't have sleeves you could always get like a long sleeved bolero or something like that?

So do you think you oh has a nice proposal coming up soon?

I need to lose more weight before I even think of trying dresses on - not worn a dress for about 15-20 years!

He has 4 months in which to propose! I was looking at rings on ebay with him earlier and we have been discussing our wedding a bit today. I think he is realising how seeing two of my friends get married over the last few months and having Ella is making it more important to me.

Been looking at silk bouquets as real flowers are so expensive and wasted on me!! I am so not a flower person!

im really not a fan of flowers myself tbh and was thinkng of going down the silk flower route but something and i have no idea what is saying to go with real! i think its because ive never seen silk flowers all arranged in a boquet before!

I have been looking on the dunelm mill site at the vases for my sweetie buffet

apparently ikea are pretty good for vases thats were il be going after christmas!
i love all the wedding planning but sadly thats all ive been doing is planning as at the moment we havent had much spare money to put down for deposits! as soon as christmas is over then all my plans will be turning into a reality

tbh im only going to ikea for a look around i live quite far away from ikea, i seen sime nice jars and vases in tesco and asda when i went shopping the other week. was very tempted to put them in the shopping trolly

i need to try and convince OH to start looking at venues. We don't want something big but it needs to be localish and nice, oh and cheap!

do you have a budget? ours is quite small at the very most its £6000 was supposed to be much less than than as we were going to get married in the town hall then off to a nice social club and have sit down meal and then a buffet but we went to see a really nice local hotel to us and fell in love with it
