Hi there,

I have posted this in the weaning and nutrition forum too, but so many more mums hang out here in baby club so thought I will post it here too.

My twins (6.5 months) are on 3 meals a day now and have some dried apples and mango for snacks, sometimes the heinz baby biscuits. they hardly drink any water or diluted juice but refuse their bottles of formula. I have tried sippy cups and soft spout cups, also straws but they just don't really like drinking unless it is hot outside.

In the morning they have about 4-5oz each and in the evening, if lucky, they drink 6oz. I force down 3oz around 11.30 before they have their lunch. for me it works by switching the tv on so they just watch and drink without really noticing it.

so on a good day they drink about 16oz and on a normal day only 14oz.

Is that a reason to worry??

I haven't talked to my GP yet, I will call the HV on monday if they don't take any more in.

Thanks for any advice!

My best friends LO is that age and doing the same thing. Her trick is to turn on tv to distract and give bottle first before filling up with the solids. Good luck!

thanks, yeah that is the only way it works for me too. I just feel bad about switching the tv on! :)

You could also give them stewed fruit instead of dried or cucumber wedges to get some extra fluid in them. Okay it's a bit messier but, it could work. Mixing some formula into their food may help also.

I had a similar problem and used to make his breakfast with some formula, and sometimes would add formula to his meals just so I know he was getting it. Some days he has 25oz some days 12oz - I just keep an eye on his nappies but I get the worry!
