HI,

as people know me and my wife suffered ther heartache of MC last year. We are now pregant again and a couple of weeks agi she could feel little popping sensations etc. However it is now been a whole week without feeling anything. She also has lost most of the other stuff that goes when your pregant, and also dosesn't seem to be gainign wait or getting a belly, although still goes to the toliet a lot.

She is 20 weeks 2 days at the moment and we don't have a scan until Friday but I am getting worried again. Shes not in any pain or anything.

Am I over reacting, is this normal to not feel anything for a week etc?

Hi...

If you are worried at all then you should see your MW or call the hospital, they can arrange for a scan or to check the heartbeat. I popped down to see my MW when I had a concern and she put my mind at rest by checking my little mans heart.

If you're 20 weeks do you have a scan soon or this week?

x

Yeah scan should of been last Wednesday, but they cancelled and now its Friday. My Wife isn't too concerned, but I am. However I do not want to worry her by forcing the issue. When she went to get the heatbeat checked they couldn't find one, but could here blood pumping through the tube and said that was fine (This was at 16 weeks). I just want everything to be fine, but don't want to worry my princess if shes not concerned.

Well if your wife isn't too concerned then at least you have your scan on Friday where you can put your mind at rest. Sometimes your placenta can be at the front so you won't feel the movement and kicks as much. Unfortunately my sickness continued but I know lots of ladies on here lost those kind of symptoms. It tends to be only a short releif though until something equally as pleasant like heartburn or backache turns up!!

Good luck for Friday, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you....

Only other thought is that if you're anxious a lot of the time, maybe invest in a doppler, then you can listen to his/her heart till your hearts content :)

Hi ya, This is my 1st pregnancy so i havent got any excisting worrys. I am now 15 weeks and about a week-2 weeks i was feeling fluttering movements 1st on the left side the a week or so later on the right but now nothing. I lie still to see if i can feel anything but nothing. I can see my belly has its own pulse/heart beat so it dosnt concern me that much. Im presuming at certain stages you fill it more than others, Maybe when on not trying to fill them and active the baby is moving and when im lieing still like before its still aswell. Not sure, but try not worry ya self as soon you will have the scan. Hope all goes well

Thanks Greeneyes and Litlun. She does have backache now and again. Roll on Friday. I hope everything is ok, I am sure it is.

Hiya,

I was worried aswell about 2 weeks ago as I had taken some Ibuprofen for my headache (we couldn't reach the midwife and my mother in law (who's had 6 kids of her own) said it's fine to take ibuprofen) but then I read on here that most people got told by their doctors not to take ibuprofen, so I was literally in floods of tears and I was really really worried!! So I asked my husband if we could rent a doppler and we did, and it's really cheap!

So if you're a person that worried quite a bit, and also just for fun you could rent a doppler from this website (cheapest one is 9.95 a month + 1x5 pounds for the postal fees) https://www.hi-baby.co.uk/ You can get it and basically keep it as long as you want (max of 7 months) and they'll just take payments every month, until you send it back. So if you only want it for 1 month, just send it back and they won't take another payment.

Hope everything's ok and enjoy your scan on friday!! :)

Thanks very much. Doplers always worry me in case I couldn't find something, might be something I look at after Friday. Although won't have much money as I am giving all my spare money to my wife so she can save for baby stuff and doesn't have to work as much.

Dont panic just yet:) Babies have their days when they are quiet..normally I can feel my LO dancing around but for the past 4 days shes been quiet..The home doppler is a godsend as it can really help put your mind at ease..Does your wife have anterior placenta? That could also be why she hasnt felt much..I got AP and even when I dont feel something when I listen in with the doppler I can hear movements and kicks, just that the placenta is cushioning it..my fingers are crossed for you both :hugs:

Check on ebay..I got a doppler on there for 25 quid.

ahw that's really sweet! :) Don't worry, we don't have a lot of money either....I don't work and my husband is in the army, not earning a lot of money (specially since he's in the uk, and the army is broke :p) And we're also moving at the end of this month. That's why we got the cheapest doppler :p

It's not too hard to find the heartbeat with the doppler, just make sure you use a lot of gel and when you move it, move it really slowly!! Oh and the baby might be lower than you think it is, Ours usually sits right down by my pelvic/hip bone though I thought it would be sitting a bit higher...(as my 'bump' is higher)

What do the movements sound like?? I can imagine the kicks are quite a distinctive sound, but I don't think I've ever heard movements. I also have an anterior placenta and don't feel my baby everyday, and the kicks aren't always as strong either...

marc wen i went for my 16wk Mw apointment she wasnt going to use doppler because a lot of the time @ 16wk they cant find it and wont send woman for scans coz it costs to much!! but because iv got a doppler at home i just said i can find it at home so she did ho babys HB.

iv had not been feeling baby kick loads b4 20wks so wudn worry to much. But maybe ask your mw if she will do babys Hb (which they will coz she has reached 20wks) just make sure ya wife is drinking loads of fluids and eatin well xx gud luck with scan on froday :)

You hear thuds on the doppler and and it sounds a bit like when you have a mic too close to a speaker IYKWIM..depending on what kinda doppler you have then you need to apply a bit of pressure to kinda hear through the placenta..ofcos it also depends on LO co-operating:D I got a really good heartbeat last week, good enough to make a recording but this week she's decided she finds it comfy right at the back:D

Good Luck for Friday, I'm sure all will be well. :hugs:

Thanks I hope so. Was worried sick waiting for the 12 wk scan, now worried again. Would be nice to relax, although I am doing everything around the house and lifting bags and I think it is driving my missus up the wall. I keep saying before you lift something half the weight of the item and divide it by 2. If I would be then be happy with the wait you can now lift it (basically she can't lift much because of this math), so I'm happy, but don't think she is.

Hon I dont think any of us will ever truly relax again. I think too that once you have experience an MC (I have suffered that too) then you are so aware of how easily you can lose this little miracle. BUT mainly that doesnt happen that is what we have to remember. Babies do get quiet days - I have a home doppler - kept me sane in the 12-16wk stage and from 16-19 weeks before I felt any movement. Remember there is a lot of room and loads of places for the LO to kick where we cant feel it. It will be a bit stressful I didnt sleep for 3 nights before my 20 week scan - but there she was all perfect.

I still cant say im having a baby without qualifying it with "hopefully" comes with the territory of not quite believing until the LO is there with you.

If your wife isnt worried then do try not to worry her- hard on you I know. My DH was a nervous wreck before all the scans and the 16 week MW appointment come to that and will no doubt be on edge all day when I have the 25 week appointment and so on.

Hang on in there and hope all goes well on Friday.

Thanks, thats why I don't want to ask her to call the MW or go for another check because she will know I am concerned and then be worried herself. I read a baby book every night to her (one of the ones that do day by day), and we get all excited, but its just hard. I want Friday to come and go all ok.

Has your wife tried drinking something really cold, or eating/drinking something sweet? That usually gets bubs moving. At 20 weeks, if I didn't feel ladybug move for a day or so, I'd poke my belly a few good times (not too hard, just enough so she could feel it) and she'd usually give a little wiggle or kick.

I hope all goes well on friday. :hugs:

She does drink some cold drinks, but she hardly sits still. I feel like I have to chain her down (not in a kinky way) She always wants to help with dinner, washing up, cleaning etc. But when she does relax she doesn't feel anything.

I found lying on my tummy was the best way to find the LO - Little devil usually made her presence and her annoyance at being squashed felt pretty quickly - but its different for different people.

I love that you read the baby book to her each night
