Hi chicklets.

I would greatly appreciate some advice.

Iv always been lucky with Marley as he has been sleeping through and in his own bed and room since he was 5 months old.

I have just come back from a 2 week holiday in Florida last Friday and now he refuses to sleep in his own bed as he slept in the same bed as me in the hotel room! He is now being so clingy (as im a working mum, we loved these 2 weeks being together constantly) and now screams when i take him in his room for bed.

I thought it could at first be the jet lag, but he is screaming out for me and crying until it sounds like he is going to be sick. He has NEVER done this before. He is not unwell and acts normally except for bedtime.

Friday night he didnt sleep until 6am. Had to take him downstairs to calm him down.
Saturday night he didnt sleep until 5am. Stayed in his room until he fell asleep.
Sunday 3am.
Last night - he kind of slept through (as he must have been so tired anyway) but woke up every 2 hours and cried until i told him to get to sleep.

Im absolutely jigged and housework is piling up. I know i have probably not done myself any favours by going in to him but after 4 days with minimal sleep im desperate! And i know some mothers and fathers have to put up with this on a daily basis and i think you are troopers!!

Please help me get my DS back into a routine!!

Hey There,

This exact same thing happened to me. For a approximately 10 days my Jack slept in a bed with me and Daddy, after that he would not go near his bedroom let alone his cot. (Before this he was a fab sleeper). we tried everything, i let him fall asleep with me in bed, then transferred him, this didn't help, he would wake up in the night screaming until i brought him back!
It was becoming a nightmare.
Things are not perfect again now, but much much better.
After a week of constantly taking him into his bedroom, he is a lot more settled in there now. I just persisted with it. sometimes i laid down next to his cot bed as well and that helped.
he still somestimes wakes and comes to get me, but I just wont give in, i just keep putting him in his bed. I work full time so am shattered, but things are definately getting better.

Good luck x

Tom was like this last week after having chicken pox and a weekend away where he slept in bed with me. I found refusing to get him out of bed (fortuantly he stays in bed all by himself) and cuddling him bed then lying with my head on the pillow next to him until he feel asleep worked. It took 3 nights of lying there for up to an hour 2 times in the night plus at bedtime but after that he has been ok settling in his bed again although he still wants me to stay in the room where he can see me.

Good luck...keep strong and hopefully he'll give in quickly.
