I've just found out from my researching birth statistics in the UK that the highest number of births occurs in August. This means therefore that November is the month with the highest number of conceptions. Is it because the weather is turning in on us and we all cuddle up more, or is it because men's sperm counts increase when the weather gets colder? Also article in Telegraph, 17 November 2010 states that pregnancies in women over 40 reaches a record high. So it's good news all round girls!

oooh lets hope this november follows the trend, be a nice crimbo present :bfp:

Does mens sperm really increase in the winter??? why???

My DF was looking into research papers and it seems mens sperm counts do increase in the winter due to the colder weather, heres hoping :)

Ooooh I hope its right! It would be a shame to waste those extra swimmers :winkwink:

Fingers crossed we can all continue the trend! :D

wow I am surprised by this, I really thought December was the highest month, nearly everyone I know is born in September :haha: x

Interesting info - thanks for sharing:flower:

I am now in my TWW so hopefully can add to the number of November conceptions:winkwink:

hi Hayley, I gather December is the second highest month for conceptions, hence September is second after August for baby boom. Yes cold swimmers are fast swimmers, lol...Wish us luck with the Pre-Seed, check out that thread girls.

Cooler the sperm sack the better :) so winter makes sense!
