As we are having triplets we always knew that we would have more ultra sound scans than is classed as 'normal' but when we discussed it with the consultant at the beggingn of the pregnancy he said that wed have the usual 12 weeks and then from 24 weeks it would be every 3 weeks etc, but weve already had a fair number of them and went in for another yesterday and have been told that we have to be scanned every 2 weeks now which has worried me slightly. They have said that babys are all doing fine and we even got to see one of them sucking his thumb which was ultra adorable but im now just a bit worried as to why we have to have it so frequently ? not that im complaining at all because I LOVE seeing them so much !

Also wanted to ask ... im uk based ,and every scan we have had so far weve always had a room full of people , in the sence of not just the sonographer/consultant and the usual person typing on the compiter but theres always 4 or so other 'trainee' people in there with us . Were never asked about if we mind them being there at all and it does get a bit off putting sometimes when your trying to watch little one on the screen and the sonographer keeps blooming turning it so she can explain to the students what all the medical terms are!!! Has anyone else come across this???

I'm sure if there was something to worry about they'd tell you.. Id say enjoy them!
I need to book a private scan because I won't see her again until she's born if i don't. :(

As for the students.. I've not had any in with me.. But I'm only having one baby so I guess it's not as exciting or as unusual as having 3!! ;)
If you're not happy.. Tell them!

I just have to say its so awesome your lucky number 3 :D amazing!

They should ask if you mind having students in the room, ive always been asked. If you dnt like it then say something im sure they wont mind x

Hey, they should always ask if you mind people being in there. Its YOUR scan! I do ultrasound scans and i always ask if people mind before i let a student in, or let a student scan them xxx

I'm sure if there were any problems they would tell you hun probably just want to keep check everything is going well as it's not everyday people have triplets! I'm shocked they don't ask you if you want all those people there, maybe mention it next time you go hun?

Xxx

I had fortnightly scans with identical twins. Its nothing to worry about and i had no problems (not until a week before i lost them anyway), i even had a scan on Christmas Eve and everything was fine (lost them Christmas Day). Look at it as extra chances to see your little ones. Im sure the are doing just fine xx

I imagine they have all those people because triplets isnt common. I know it must be a pain and I do think they should have asked but as they are training it would be great if you do try and accommodate it like you have been. Their training is vital so what you are doing by letting them be there is great!!

Don't really have any experaince with triplets hun but I'm sure if they were concerned they would tell you

With reagards to students if you find it is limiting your care/experaince then I would say something. These are you babies and they need to take your wishes into account x

Are 2 of the babies identical? As mummy to ange said for identicals it's standard for fortnightly scans.

I can appreciate a room full of people is not ideal but just think of it as your babies are helping teach and learn the next generation of medics and they'll no doubt remember your pregnancy fondly:winkwink:

I've had a student sonographer but did get asked if I minded which I didn't, the scan took a lot longer but in a way felt more thorough as everything was double checked:thumbup:
