Hi everyone, I had my twelve week scan last week and all was well :happydance:

The only thing was that baby wasnt in the right position to take the nuchal measurements so they suggested a quad blood test at 16 weeks.

Has anyone had experience of this?

Me... I was 1 day too early foe the measurement to be taken and due to go on holiday the next day so I had the quad at 16 weeks. It was ok pretty much the same as havin the nuchall only a little later

Can you not request a second attempt? Or a more experienced scanner.. The MW who did mine first was rubbish however I was scanned a few days later by a professor in fetal medicine and he managed just fine! Sometimes its the baby been unco-operative and sometimes it is the experience of the scanner... :) x

I have had the quad blood test twice at 15-16 weeks..

For me the "newer" method seems to throw up a lot of false high risk positives

I had a nuchal attempt at 11+2 and 13+2 but baby was moving too much to get the measurement, so had to have quad test done instead at 14+2. Apparently it happens quite alot.

If you have to wait until the 16 week blood test, it's okay. I only had the blood work done at 16 weeks (my insurance won't cover the early one at 12 weeks) and my doctor said the results for the blood work are the same, if not better at predicting than the earlier screen. My results came back within the normal limits.
