I have never had one before but do rememeber being quite uncomfortable feeding on the settee.

Is a nursing chair worth buying or not?

I wouldnt pay out much for one just get one from ebay, but would you recommend them?

hiya, i cant say if i recommend them or not as i havnt had to feed in one yet. but i have bought one and i've tested them and they are soooooo comfrotbale!!! their meant to be really good for supporting you as well as the baby so you dont get back ache etc! i bought one for £90 off symthe toystore website xx

£90.00 is pretty good ay! They are soooo soooo expensive in most places!

I just bought a glider off kiddicare with a footstool for about £120 and can confirm that it's very comfortable. I think my problem will be getting the cats and OH out of it! I don't have experience using it for BF yet as this is my first but figured I needed something comfy as our sofa is really uncomfortable.

heya, i got one for £15 off Ebay and find it a godsend!!! it was the only thing i could sit in comfortably when i was pregnant, and is so much easier for feeding in :D xxx

WOW you are all certainly selling it to me!

Do you use it at night or have you got it for daytime feeding?

We got a 2nd hand Ikea Poang chair which are is really comfy.

she only ever woke once in the night till 6 weeks when she started sleeping through, so we use it for day feeding...and thats only 3 times a day now!!!

Sooooo many family and friends have recommended them but I can't have one because we're trying to sell our flat:nope::cry:
Have been told they are worth their weight in gold.:hugs:

When I'm downstairs I'll just be sitting on the couch but using a pillow under my arm (which will also be resting on the arm of the couch) to help hold baby up so my arm doesn't get fatigued. This is what I did with my son and it was grand. I definitely recommend propping baby up on a pillow of some kind as you don't want to be holding baby's weight in your arm while breastfeeding, that gets way too tiring. I switched sides of the couch for whichever boob he was on at the time.

As for the upstairs, we don't have any piece of furniture upstairs like that at all so I definitely plan to buy a chair in the next few weeks so I can breastfeed this baby during the night. I won't be laying in bed with baby as that just doesn't work for our situation for numerous reasons, so I'll be needing a chair. Thanks for the comments above on the chair type as I'm going to look into that. Ideally I don't want to spend more than 100 on a chair and I'm happy to get secondhand. :)

Yes true with the upstairs thing, my kids have a habit of climbing into whatever bed i am in so chair upstairs may be a good idea. Can try it wherever anyway ay.

I am definately sold on the idea now!

Me too so thanks for this thread.

Only thing is, most of the chairs look pretty boring don't they? Or is it just me. I know they are there for a function of sorts but they could have something that looks half decent. Anyone with any ideas on a more contemporary style? Would a normal rocking chair work that has been reupholstered if bought from ebay?

I agree they look like they belong in a nursing home!

I guess a normal rocking chair would work but i think its all the padding thats makes these chairs so comfy?

xx

i really wanted one but i have no room in my house for 1. and mu oh said there just a waste of money and the £100 we save on getting one can be spent on baby clothes or things when baby needs them. still want one though hehe.

Yeah, definitely padding for under the bum and padding for under the arm while feeding, that would be a must-have for me.

I'm having such trouble finding anything online for Ireland. Lots in the UK but nada here unless it's some ridiculous price that I'm not willing to pay, LOL... guess I'll have to waddle my big butt around to the furniture shops in town and see if I can get lucky.

My chair and my boppy pillow for nursing have been invaluable to me. I'd recommend both without hesitation. I use mine day and night!
