So me and my partner are DESPERATELY looking for a new place ASAP

However everything is so d**m expensive

We can just scrape a 2 bedroom house/flat but it will be tight ... what i want to know is ..........

Is 2 adults, 2 fully grown house cats (100% NEVER going to rehome) and a newborn able to live in a 1 bedroom house/flat?
Because i know there is a high chance after a year it could take another 3 years to get an exchange

I just dont know what to do :(

If u go with council ur entitled to a 2 bedroom

If u go with council ur entitled to a 2 bedroom

dont even go there lol :(

Been in Band A classed as Statutory homeless since 3 months pregnant, Band A is the highest band and we bid on 3 houses every 2 weeks in a few areas not just 1 area ... 6 months later ............... were still homeless without 1 viewing yet?? :growlmad:

So angry with them thats why we want to private rent but just dont think a 1 bed is going to realistically work

dont know if someone can help with the name but i know a friend who was being made homeless and they were having loads of problems with council.
once this group got involved they had a housing association house within two weeks.
maybe speak to cab to find out if there is anyone that can help

Would you maybe consider changing your area of choice? some areas have cheaper housing than others so you may find a 2 bedroom flat for the same price elsewhere x

I would say if there is no way you can get a 2 bedroom then go for a 1 bedroom. At least you then have a home. If it come to it and you were still in there when baby is older than have a sofa bed in living room that you and hubby can sleep in. I think as long as roof over year head, food in the cupboard and love in your home you cant go wrong hun.

You could always contact your local councillor and tell them about your council housing troubles.... friend of my mums did just that and got rehomed pretty sharpish.

You can be on the council list for 10+ years. Try looking for private landlords or even get in contact with Advice Bureaus - they'll do all the work for you.

Is your ranking improving on the list when you bid? It took my younger sister 6 months but she eventually got her 3 bed house. Once she was close and only had between 3 and 10 people in front of her on each house she got one really quickly.

find out the LHA ( local housing allowance rates ) in your area find a nice place you like that is in the top of the LHA rate and apply so long as you have the first months rent and deposit upfront the landlord doesnt need to know your claiming Housing benefit , just make sure you have enough to cover rent on your own till the HB kicks in they are normally pretty good but it can sometimes take upto 6/8wks to come in , of course they pay from the begining of the tenancy so you would get a bigger first payment if it was over a month it took.
