I don't like christmas pud or cake so want to do a trifle for dessert on xmas day. I do have a box of Birds Trifle in the cupboard but am a little concerned with the amount of unknown ingredients. Is the topping safe?

I'm planning to have the same for desert on Christmas day so I hope so too! I can't imagine what would be in there which we couldn't eat - nothing bacterial could possibly live in those packets!!

Or make a fresh one - Reeeeeeeal easy...

Firstly; put fresh Raspberries and Strawberrys into a saucepan with a little water and a couple of spoon fulls of sugar...Simmer untill all soft and mushy...

Add slices of Madeira cake (or any sponge cake) to the bottom of your bowl -
Cover the sponge cake with your Rasberry and Strawberry Mixture
Cover this with fresh Birds eye Custard (tinned or carton)
Then cover the top with Whipping cream, chocolate shavings and strawberries

    Yummmmmmmm ;)

Oh no! That isn't what you want from your dream topping!

Could you whip some cream and put it on instead? Desperate times...
