So I went to the store today and I was going to pick up some unisom. My midwife told me to grab some to help with my near CONSTANT nausea. So I asked for some help finding it and the lady said "Having trouble sleeping?"

I should have said yes. Instead I told her it was for morning sickness. This woman all but called me a bad mother to my embryo. She said "This is for sleeping, it will not help you with morning sickness." among other things. She took me to the Unisom and then wouldn't hand it to me, kind of blocking the other boxes. Finally, after nearly arguing with this woman, I said "I trust my midwife." The woman said "Midwives are just nurses, they aren't pharmacists and they don't know that much about medicine." WHAT!?
I took the unisom from her and said I would talk to the pharmacist if it would make her more comfortable. (!?!?)

So I talk to him and he's basically like It might help but you shouldn't take anything, it wouldn't hurt the baby but you shouldn't take anything, you signed up for this and blah blah. I'm like wtf. Seriously?

So I didn't even ask about the dramamine that my midwife also said was okay, and just kind of booked it out of there. Afraid to take either medicine. :(

Unisom is one of the ingredients in one of the most commonly prescribed anti-morning sickness medications in Canada (Diclectin). The other ingredient is B6, they work really well together. I was given a prescription for this as well. Your pharmacist and pharmacy sales lady are very misinformed. There have been studies done on this drug for pregnant women. There is no evidence of any harm done for women who take this during pregnancy. Don't worry! Your midwife was right, take it if you need it.

Wow! I hope you went to another store and purchased the medicine your midwife recommended.

Im a pharmacy tech and I am appalled at the treatment you received.!! I am on diclectin which has unisom and B6 in it. It is specially for pregnant women. It has reduced my vomiting from 10 times a day to 1! It has to be prescribed but you can indeed get the unisom alone without a prescription. I would go elsewhere. Best of luck. Hope you feel better soon hun.

That sounds TERRIBLE! The packet my OB/GYN gave me specifically says Unisom is ok to take for nausea/ms. Pretty sure a pregnancy-doctor wouldn't say it's ok to take during pregnancy if it wasn't. I hope you were able to get the medicine and I'd seriously consider complaining to whomever is in charge of that pharmacy. Sorry you had to go through that :(

I would have cursed those people out so fast! And told them to mind their business! Then blamed it on the hormones. lol But sorry that happened to you, I wouldn't shop there anymore.

Thanks guys! I love being able to come here, I know you'll get it. I'm sure i'll go back eventually, it's right near my work. But I won't deal with either of them again!
