my dd has loved water for the last 18 months, she loves baths, loves brushing her teeth because it means she can brush her teeth and play with the running water, loves washing her hands because again she can play with the running water, if I give her any water or juice in a proper cup again she plays with it and sometimes spits her juice out from her toddler cup (with the lid and drinking part cant remember what you call them having a dumb moment haha) just so she can sit and play with it, if it rains she has to jump in every single puddle no matter how big or small and often trys to put her hands in as well. We have a fish tank which she has renctly been able to reach to open the lid and if i turn my back for 2 seconds shes got her hands in it or is popping an object in, just the other days she threw the sky remote in it so we had to go pay £25 for a new one and today she nearly put my iphone in i caught her just before she succeeded luckily!

I know with the fish tank I just need to buy a high stand so she can reach but anyone got any ideas why she has such an obsession with water? its driving me bonkers it just seems to be getting worse not better!

:D

cute ! at least theres something you know will keep her entertained :D

my toddler is fond of water but probly not to that extent, tho she would happily take 3+ baths a day and loves the swimming pool.

i wish she would enjoy brushing her teeth tho!

Mine is obsessed with water too. Absolutely loves brushing her teeth, and often comes home from playgroup in different clothes from what I sent her in because she washes her hands after every single activity and usually ends up soaked.

On her first day at playgroup and came home in a completely different outfit (trousers and t-shirt).. Her teacher told me she climbed into the water play-tray!

Mine also loves water- just not to the extent your LO does. But I can put her stool by the bathroom sink and give her a few toys and she'll just play and love it! She also likes to put a wash cloth under the facet in the bathroom (tub) and then suck the water off it! :dohh: not sure what that's about... but Ok!

Maybe find an area you'd be Ok with her playing with the facet or fill the sink with some water and a few toys? If you don't already do that. Not sure about the puddles, prob just one of those things you'll need to remind her isn't ok (unless it IS ok and you get her ready to go outside just to play in them?)-- then avoid open cups for a while? Sorry. Prob not the best input.

My LO will wash her hands forEVER! Just to play in the sink water. When she was younger- and didn't yet understand that some toys didn't belong in the water (like the mechanical toy kitty we had JUST bought her)- she dumped it in the sink... twice (don't ask me how that happened!)- but thankfully kitty survived after we put her out in the sun to dry out... she hasn't done anything like that since though and knows what toys can be in the tub and which ones can only watch! :haha:

For aquariums you can get plastic condensation shelves with just a small hole to put the food in. Maybe you could try something like that? Just make sure you can easily remove it to clean it, any food that gets stuck on the hole goes really gross really fast

My LO used to be just like this (even down to putting stuff in her/my aquarium!) which is why we bought her a fish, she's totally fascinated. One day though she just decided she hated baths and now I have to bribe her :/ She's still crazy about puddles and the kitchen sink though.

Lol my little boy is the same he loves water always has. He actually lies flat on his back in the bath (obviously it's never that deep and he's always supervised) or he'll just pour tubs of water over his head. He was only in nursery a few weeks when his key worker cane to me and said I had to change him head to toe as he just got a tub of water and poured it over his head lol he'd been watching these ice bucket challenge things. We also have a fish tank thankfully he never really tries to splash he just likes to watch the fish xx
