Obstetrics appointment tomorrow....

does everyone have one of these appointments or is it just me, i have an anxiety disorder and take the minimalist amount of medication, is it to check that or is it for something else? Sorry this sounds a bit stupid but i have no idea what they do..

I would love to hear from anyone else who has had one of these appointments and what they did.

Thats just an appt with an obstetrician (doctor who delivers babies). Its really the norm here, maybe not where you are?

Do you mean an appt with a consultant at the hospital? On your notes it should say if your under consultant care somewhere? It could be for all sorts of reasons, if your on meds for an exisiting illness or have a higher than avg BMI or a family history that concerns them, previous complicated pregnancy etc etc all sorts really! I have been to see a consultant and on the whole it wasn't scary at all, we just had a falling out over my hyperemesis!! But other than that it was just a routine check up and I had to be booked in for a diabetes test and that was that. If your unsure why you've been referred I would call your midwife to find out so you know what they will want to discuss with you.

Thanks, yes i have got a highish bmi and medical problems so it could be that, also was hospilised with hyperemesis too. Trying not to worry now as im sure it will be all ok, just wasnt sure if it was for any ther reason.

and we both have hyperemesis and a slightly high BMI, are you sure your not my secret twin!
