oh dear... help!

Me and hub had fertility tests done recently and hub had a letter in the post today to say he may need further tests... He went straight to the doctor an hour ago and hasn't come back yet..!
While hes been gone i phoned the nurse for my own blood test results and she said everything is fine... Just waiting for one more result to come back...

It didn't even cross my mind that it may be sperm problems and not MY problems..!
I wasn't prepared for this. Surely its more difficult if tje problems are the blokes side...

Anyone have any help? :/

Try and stay as positive as possible. Wait until your hubby gets home and go from there. I'm sure the truth isn't nearly as bad as you are thinking it is. . Good luck

The doctor is phoning him tomorrow, turns out he was gone so long because he bumped into his friend..!

Will see what the doc says tomorrow.

Yes! It was three weeks ago today actually! It was amazing but went SO fast!
Feels fab being a wife, my hubby just got offered a new job out of the blue which is a lot more money, so hopefully now we can get pregnant and continue the good luck!

Doctor is phoning both of us this morning in about two hours. Will keep updated x

Had results back this morning.
He has an abnormally low sperm count (they could only identify seven(!) sperms and "low" is 1000)

He had an operation when he was five to bring his testicles down(?) This baffles me. Anyway, the doc said usually in men who have had this op they can have problems due to a blockage. The doc is seeing hubby later to examine him and determine if It Is a blockage and we will go from there...
Part of me feels positive that at least there are sperms and they are healthy? I wasnt really expecting anything like this to be the outcome, thought it might be a case of hubby taking some medication and there we go..!

Anyone else had this situation?

Oh, doc said my results are fine, and I am ovulating so nothing to worry about there.. yay.

Ok out of the seven sperm only four were actually moving. FOUR. It should be twenty-million or sonething. This is ridiculous. I can't stop crying about it. And hubby is going to the pub now. Yay

i am so sorry to hear your news. Did the Dr give treatment options and outcomes?

He's looking into options. He thinks there might be a blockage from scar tissue so hopefully thats the case and it can be reversed.. he said keep trying as it only takes one. And he is getting the ball rolling for us to be seen in hospital. Trouble is we live so far out the nearest place with a specialist is 2.5 hours away and we need "funding" he's writing to local hospital to get advice about which way we go from here..

God chimmi I'm so sorry you do need to remember it does only take one and you've taken steps in the right direction by getting checked out. They can do some truly amazing things these days - I have two friends who both had problems with hubby and wife (if that makes sense!) both couples now have had healthy kids. You really will get there. Take care of yourself. And be kind to hubby - I know it's crap that he has gone to the pub but I think men really struggle with fertility problems - they don't have outlets like this site to vent on/talk to others in same situ - I imagine it is very very isolating and scary for them (not that it isn't for us girls either but ykwim)

So sorry to hear this Chimmi. I agree, don't give up while the doctor looks into options for you, it really does only take 1 sperm to make it all happen. Fingers crossed for you both that any blockages that are keeping the sperm count down are reversible/fixable. Please keep us up-to-date as you find things out.

Will keep trying, but what i cant help think about is that we didnt have sex for about 2 weeks before he had to give his "sample" and there was only seven sperms... What if when we are bding more often (like every other day) what if theres like hardly any there, like one or two..? :/
I'm tempted to not bd now at all until I ovulate. save up what spermies may be there and use them in one go.

Not sure about saving them though... They say fresh is best!
At least it's not NO sperm so you do have the option of ivf

Yeah im glad there's four sperm at least coz it means hes making sperm which is good..! Just cannot believe how little there is, i googled "7 sperm count" and google was like "7million..?" ha I wish.
Doc mentioned IVF although not in the exact words, but onviously said its not cheap(!) And we have time in our side as i am only 25.
He said and i quote "we are at the start of a very long process" - that makes me sad for many reasons but hoping we might be able to beat the odds and get one little healthy sperm to get where he needs to be!

Do you think pre seed might help? I ordered sone off the net before all this came up, but now i think maybe it will help whatever sperms there are get to the egg faster etc? Worth a go..!

I have no medical reasoning behind this but I wouldn't use it.
But my thought is Ok so if you think when a man ejaculates the quantity of it there... Plenty right? Some comes dribbling out straight away, some stays near the tip of the penis, some leaks and sticks to your thighs, some is around the bottom of the vaginal canal nowhere near the cervix and a small amount (compared to how much of it there is) goes into or around the cervix....now normally there's 20-100 million sperm in a "load" so normally even if a drop or 2 goes in the cervix there's still gonna be a million sperm or so in there starting the race. However if there's only 4 healthy sperm.... Well what if they end up In the areas that AREN'T the cervix? Then you add preseed and now there's an even greater amount of liquid diluting those few sperm making chances even more unlikely that the tiny sperm will get the prime spot inside the cervix opening.
That's just my thoughts....like I said no medical validation whatsoever there though.
