So I posted a couple of nights ago about how I bled after sex was bright red blood lasted 20 mins max and wasn't Loads a fair bit but not loads so we figured and came to the conclusion it was cos of sensetivity down there and not having sex for a few months until then etc. Checked lil mans heart beat with my doppler and all seemed normal there and have felt him move.

But now since the bleeding stopped when I go to the toilet and wipe theres light browny pinkish stuff. No pain and no discomfort nothing else unusal but all only starting happening since that night of dtd. Now it could be old blood I have been keeping an eye on it with a pad and tbh on the pad theres not really much other than the odd smear or spotting within a whole 24 hours I notice it more when I wipe and even then its very very little. Still feeling movements and still hearing heartbeat on doppler.

Anyone else had this?

sorry i havn't had this but it would do no harm to reassure yrself by asking yr midwife she would have had loads of cases like this x

I had a very similar experience, turned out that I had what's called a cervical erosion. It's nothing to be worried about, just old cells falling away from the cervix (this can happen at any time, but during pregnancy it happens more easily just becuase there's so much more blood flow and "stuff" going on down there), and thankfully has absolutely no ill effect on the baby (like you, there's never any pain and I always feel lots of movement). I've had two bleeds during my pregnancy and both have been as a result of this

I'd still say that you ought to mention it to your midwife though, just so she can give you a quick exam and make sure its nothing to be concerned about. As the old saying goes... better to be safe : ) The staff are more than happy to give you peace of mind, and I always feel tons better after they've confirmed my thought that all is well.

Hope that helps.

Thanks hun my midwife is on holiday now until for a week so do you think I should phone up the antenatal unit at the hospital and ask to speak to an on call midwife?

You need to get checked out hun, it's probably nothing but the MWs need to know the reason for the bleeding incase it isn't coming from outside the cervix. Any bleeding should be checked out. xxx

I've always just rang the antenatal assesment unit for advice, and both times they've asked me to come in for a check up. They'll always err on the side of caution, and it is reassuring to hear the experts tell you everything is fine with baby. I'm absolutely sure that you'll be fine too, as the bleed has stopped : )

I have had the exact same thing (complete with the lovely "old blood" bit lol!) and it always turns out just fine: I see a happy wee baby at the scan and stop worrying. Hope everything goes alright for you too hun. x

Yeah, just to be clear (I have a terrible habit of waffling): give them a call

I might just give them a call and see what they say Im not overly worried cos lil man is kicking away happily so that must mean he's ok in there

You'll feel better for doing so; really hope all goes well and you're reassured. The first questions they ask me is if the bleeds stopped and whether I've felt movement, so things are already looking positive for you. x

You shouldn't use your doppler for that kind of reassurance, only for entertainment. It's dangerous because you are not properly trained to use it, and won't be able to pick up a potential problem with it.

I'm sure everything is perfectly fine, but you should always contact your midwife about any bleeding. Definitely ring the antenatal assessment unit! :flower:

First of all, big slap on the wrist for using your own doppler! The mw can detect things that we can't and a normal HB to us can be an irregular one to an expert!

Second, it would be best to go get checked out. I never bother ringing my mw as she's rubbish, I go straight for triage and they don't mind I promise you. Any bleeding should be checked out. I went last night because I had just the slightest smudge of pink when I wiped (as well as alot of discharge) which turned out to be nothing but it's on record and I had peace of mind.

Thirdly it's great that baby is moving but please go get checked out!!

Let us know how you get on :hugs: xx

Yes, definately go and get checked out.

We have leaflets from th MW here saying any bleeding in late pregnancy MUST be checked so that they can rule out any serious causes or placental problems etc.

It is especially important if the blood was red - I've have a cervical erosion which causes bleeding sometimes but it has never caused fresh red blood - only brown/pinkish.

Like we've all said, it's probably nothing but where your baby is concerned it is much better to be safe than sorry - much better to be seen and assessed by a DR or midwife and if there is a potential problem it can be picked up and dealt with.

Good luck xx

I have not experienced this myself hun but any bleeding should be checked out.I'd give your doctor a call just to be on the safe side.xx

Hey girls I did go to the Hospital and got checked over, They told me I have cervical ectropian which is what the bleeding was and baby is fine heartbeat good and movement is great. Only thing they r slightly concerned about is when I was put on the tummy monitor to monitor heartbeat n contractions I am having regular contractions which apparently should be hurting me but I just said I feel a slight discomfort so I have to keep an eye on that but other than that everything is fine and the contractrions are nothing to do with the cervical ectropian. :) just thought i'd update you all x

Really glad you got checked out and that everything was fine with your little one. Thanks for updating on how you got on x
