SAPA PR --SA COMPANY LAUNCHES NEW, MULTI-NUTRIENT FERTILITY SUPPLEMENT

Issued by: Leap Communications Attention: Health / News Editors For immediate release: 03 September 2008 SA COMPANY LAUNCHES NEW, MULTI-NUTRIENT FERTILITY SUPPLEMENT FORLOCAL AND INTERNATIONAL MARKETS A South African company has launched a multi-nutrient fertilitysupplement for men and women -- formulated exclusively from naturalproducts -- which helps prepare and enhance the body for conception and which is destined for local and global markets. After several years of research and formulation, Ensigma Brokers(Pty), a marketing and management company in the fields of healthcareand associated products, has launched Pregassist Woman and PregassistMan (www.pregassist.co.za) from exclusively natural ingredients to help balance the body's nutritional status and to assist in fallingpregnant. Ensigma Brokers owns and distributes a range of healthcare productsand is the agent for several other South African-owned principals.Ensigma directors and pharmacists Graham Erlank Purchase and JohnIngles Purchase owned Hyperpharm Pharmacies before selling the chain in 2002. The directors describe Pregassist as: "A natural supplement whichhas been carefully formulated to help boost vitality and promote thehealthy functioning of the reproductive system for both men and women". They said there was demand locally and globally for a comprehensivefertility multi-nutrient made exclusively from natural ingredients. The product will be launched in Australia and New Zealand from September, while negotiations are underway with marketing partners in Japan. Thedirectors added that Pregassist Woman and Pregassist Man were the first in a range of supplements to support fertility and pregnancy. Dr Trevor Baillie, a homeopathic doctor who oversaw the research and development of Pregassist, said nutritional deficiencies were oftenoverlooked in treating infertility. "People spend tens of thousands of rands on fertility clinics andoften don't attend to their nutritional status first. Nutritionalpreparation should be the first step and Pregassist helps correct thebody's nutritional status for conception. It is uniquely comprehensivein its formulation, providing all the necessary nutrients -- includingvitamins, herbs and amino acids -- to assist in enhancing fertility". "The formulations also contain adaptogenic herbs, which have beenshown to counter the negative effects of stress which results in theincreased production of the hormone cortisol by the body. Cortisolnegatively influences the production of hormones responsible forovulation (in women) and sperm production (in men)." Dr Baillie said Pregassist Woman had been formulated from plantextracts to assist the body in improving metabolism and to increase and enhance fertility. "Nutrients in this product include Ginseng powderwhich supports healthy uterine function and general well-being, as well as Black Cohosh extract which assists in regulating hormones and helpsnormalise infrequent or irregular menstrual cycles." The capsules also contain a range of vitamins, herbs and aminoacids, all aimed at assisting the body in improving metabolism andenhancing fertility. He said Pregassist Man had been formulated from a variety ofvitamins and minerals such as vitamins C, E and Selenium, which allhelp prevent sperm clumping, increase quality and quantity of sperm, enhance sperm motility, and protect sperm membrane. He said the capsules also contained the mineral Zinc Elementa, which helps protect the functioning of sex organs and DNA in sperm. It alsoassists sperm cells to conserve energy in the race to the egg and helps the sperm penetrate the egg. "The plant extracts and nutrients used in formulating Pregassisthave been carefully selected to help provide the nourishment requiredfor adequate sperm production in men and to prepare the women's bodyfor conception. It's the ideal natural supplement to balancenutritional status and ensure a good and healthy start to a newborn'slife," he added. " Research indicates that infertility may originate from either themale or female partner or both. Among couples that undergo fertilitytesting, about 40% of infertility cases arise from females and 40% from males. In 10% of couples, infertility is experienced by both partners. The remaining 10% of fertility problems remain largely unexplained. "Pregassist is available from most SA pharmacies.
