One Year

I was wondering if anyone else whose child had a protracted/dramatic NICU stay feels sad, anxious and reflective on anniversaries. My girls' first birthday is this Friday. And while I'm so happy to have hit this milestone, my happiness is definitely tampered by the memories of the rollercoaster that started after they were born. It doesn't help that, since this is cold season, the girls are always coming down with something--for some reason, even small illnesses trigger a bit of anxiety and that coupled with their birthday is making me feel really distracted and, yup, anxious.

Anyone else? I guess I'm looking for some commiseration today.
