only a 12 week scan??

My dr. office called today to book my first scan, which is Oct 26 - when I will be 12 weeks. Shouldn't i get one earlier?? I asked the receptionist if this was normal and she said as long as im not cramping or bleeding (which I am not) then to just relax and wait.

anyone else have to wait until 12 weeks??

I am hoping I don't have to wait that long I hope they give me a dating scan because I had a late BFP and so I need to know exactly how far a long I am or if something is going on!!!

Yep 100% normal.

I have 2 early scan because of a ruptured ectopic. X

Yep, 1st scan at 12-13 weeks, 2nd scan at 20-22 weeks then that's it until they're born.

My dr wanted me to wait until 18-20.. unreal!!!! I thought they did 12 week ones, I'd love to have that! Seems everyone is getting an early scan

There are people who hear the heartbeat at like 5 & 6 weeks along! I have had so few symptoms its hard to believe that I am even pregnant at all! I even took another hpk to make sure again, and sure enough it was SUPER dark this time, so I guess Im good

My ob only does 2 ultrasounds total as well, one at 12 weeks and one at 20 weeks. I'm going to get a private gender scan though at 16 weeks. They should be able to check heartbeats without doing an US though, with a doppler. Hoping they check for one at my visit on Monday, it would make me feel loads better.

They wont use a doppler at 7 weeks hun as its far to early to hear a heartbeat...they dont like using them before 16 weeks as it can cause false worry if they cant find the heartbeat xx

I'm finding it depends per doctor. I had one at 8 weeks, but I have a friend (who is using a midwife) who is now at 12 weeks and still hasn't had one (who is also in Canada, I'm in the USA). Maybe try suggesting to your doc that you would like one?

That's pretty normal. It depends on the office you go to too. Mine likes to see women for the first time between 7 and 10 weeks so it's a little earlier but not much. ON the bright side there will be more to see on a scan at 12 weeks than there was for me at 8. My baby just looked like a little manatee floating in a bubble - not even wiggling around too much heh. They get more fun to watch at 12+

My Dr's office did one at 7 weeks, then I got another at 11 weeks and Ill have another at my 20 weeks appt for sure to find out the gender. Waiting is so hard =( I am 12 weeks so I have about to 8 more to go =(

Im so nervous that things are in the wrong place or whatever. I haven't had any bleeding or spotting ( i hope thats good) or any sharp pains...some mild cramps and thats it...if things were in the wrong place, would I feel it, or bleed?

Depends on your Dr...mine saw me at 4w4d and I have an ultrasound at about 7w3d, and have had the same with previous pregnancies. Mine always sends me for a dating ultrasound to get an accurate due date right away.

My first Midwife was oing to force me to wait until twenty weekes or my scan with mt first pregnancy! Luckily, I switched doctors, and at a scan found out what an mmc was . My second pregnancu,I had a scan as soon as my blood test came back, at five weeks, to days, another at seven weekes two days, another at eleven weeks, one at twenty weeks four days, and one last one at twenty eight weeks four days. I would have gone nutty having to wait so long!
