Now my LO has only been on solids for 2 weeks. She was only on babyrice or rice pudding in the morning, but I'm trying her on a little in the evening too as she really blossomed on her rice.

But when I try her on anything else (cottage pie baby jar or turkey and veg baby jar, both 4m) she just cries and spits it out, but will then eat some rice.

I am a very strange eater. I only eat things with rice in it or things with potato. Hardly any meat and only bland foods. Hoping she's not got it from me!

I wanna try cooking up some butternut squash, maybe something a bit more bland will help the transition, but has anyone elses LO done this and then happily moved onto other foods?
How did you do it?

Thanks!! x

Try mushed up fruits.

Potatoes, Carrots, broccoli.

The jars mite have too many flavours so try 1 flavour at a time them mix and match.

Thats what me and OH thought!! Think it'll work? Got some butternutsquash and carrots in so can try that tomorrow.

Did your LO do this? x

It will work. yip.

Good luck.

Also try the sweeter veg like sweet potato etc. Baby rice is quite sweet tasting.
Also try mixing some of her normal milk in with the new flavours.
Good luck.

Why not mix something into the rice so gets different tasts but still eating what she likes?

Agree with other posters about plain veg or fruit. Also every time I gave M a new flavour, she pulled a very funny face face and spat it out. Same with second spoonful and then after that she will take the whole bowl. I just all tastes a bit weird to begin with I suppose!

Megan used to make faces at new foods when we started. Its just a whole different experience for them. We started with baby cereals & then did single fruits & veggies. THen mixed together 2 of those together. So she had carrots alone for a few times, then peas alone a few times - then I would mix peas & carrots.

Megan hates the jars that include meat. I've made homemade dishes with the same ingredients & she eats them. Meat is usually something that is not a babies first choice for a favorite food.

I agree. If you want to stick to jars try the ones with one or 2 fruit or veg.It could be too much flavours. Kaceys favourites where carrott and apple and sweet potatoe and carrot. Both where quite sweet. Maybe try something sweet 1st of all

I don't really wanna stick to jars but our oven has been broken, and I didn't really wanna stop feeding her solids until we got it fixed as I didn't wanna confuse her so I figured jars would be okay for a bit.,
I'm gonna cook up some squash today, and try that for a few days and then some carrots after that.

I'm so glad it's not just me. I'm so happy that you've experienced it too (well, not happy for you, but for me!)

Was worried she'd never eat properly.

Thanks!! x

I was told that if you follow TW to introduce one flavour at a time and always the savoury stuff first. So say you try brocoli, do that for a few days, then something else for a few days etc. For two reasons, one being so that if you LO has a reaction you Canberra fairly sure what's caused it and also that once they get a sweet ooth it can be very hard to break.

Hope that helps.
