Anyone trying for another child that knows if your cervix stays open is that bad for ttc? Seems mines is always open quite a bit, you know when checking you can feel the ridge. Any1 else experience this? Its all throughout my cycle so I cant tell exactly when OV ends except for when I go dry

Hey wantingagirl :D

When you've had a baby before, you'll find your cervix will always be slightly open, don't worry about it :)

Its so strange Im so not used to it and felt this last month and thought that cant be right but someone told me it was and can walk about pregnant for 9 months being 1-2 cm dilated. I always thought if you get pregnant surely you would lose the child if cervix is open?

I don't know about 1 -2cm open but a slightly opened cervix is expected in women that have already had a baby, and I've had 3 with no problems what so ever in that department. I suppose the plug (show) keeps it, well plugged!

sorry to ask but do you have the same issue aswell then?

Mine always seems open too, i am trying ttc#4. It was like it all through my last pregnancy its completely fine though nothing to worry about with water and a good mucus plug baby stays safe. xx

Yeah mines been like that for many many years now, i haven't been pregnant for 10 years and it's still the same now.

You've really nothing to worry about :)

Mine is always slightly open as well... But I have something called 'incompetent cervix', where it is weaker than normal and I cannot carry a baby to term without the help of a cerclage. They found this during my 16 1/2 week scan with my son, and were able to fix it thankfully before I lost him. Apparently I was 'damaged' during my first D&C, as those can sometimes cause this problem... So I am not sure if it had always been that way before then, but it is now, if that makes sense?

When my friend was pregnant with her second, she went for a check up at 38 weeks and the midwife said that her cervix was open 1-2cm and she was likely to go into labour any day soon. She ended up being 15 days overdue!! So it seems likely that your cervix could be that open the whole pregnancy but as someone said, the show keeps everything in place until the wee bean is ready to come.

Yes! Mine always seems open..and I was successful. It's so high right now that I can't really feel it but when I was checking while TTC it was def always open. Hope this helps!
