OPK question! TIA

Ok so I am TTC #3 but have not had a A/F since a m/c in may. We were just NTNP till I got an AF but I've had odd symptoms lately so I took an HPT and I've been having issues with HPTs, all the blue dyes give me a super faint thick blue line within the time limit, however I've read nearly ALL blue dyes have this horrible false bfp rep so I took a bunch of red dye all FRER even with FMU and dollar tests are all BFN so I'm pretty sure I'm not preggo so I wondered if I was ovulating.. this AM I took an OPK and forgot about it. I came back a few hours later and saw a definitely positive test. However I am not sure if it's like an HPT and you MUST read it within the time limit? Then I decided to "be sure" and took another OPK this PM and it was an "almost but not quite" bfn. What do ya'll think?
