Hi Ladies,

We're in our sixth month TCC and if things haven't happened this month I'm thinking of trying the OPKs. Are they worth it? Do they really make life easier when trying to conceive? Did anyone find that they started using them and then got their BFP? I'm just worried that they will become just another obsession as well as something else to pee on :haha:

Any advice or experience you can share will be gratefully received.

Thanks everyone.

Hi Scottbaby. I am going onto 11 months TTC and have only used the OPK's the past 2 months. I would suggest them purely for the purpose of narrowing down and pin pointing the most fertile window in your cycle. this would then increase your chances. I personally would battle to figure out when i was ovulating and what my most fertile days were without them.
Good luck to you!!! :)

Yes, as tick tock said, it helps narrow it down. I wouldn't start testing too early though, or you'll get stressed. I start testing when I start seeing a change in my cervical fluid x

I am in my 2WW of our 3rd cycle, if it doesnt happen this time. I am going to try OPKS for our 4th cycle. I mean it cant hurt? I would say go for it!! Good luck!

If my blood test comes back negative from the doc, we are definitely trying OPKs....hate going back to the drawing board, but at least there is somewhere to start! :dust:

Hi, I started my first ttc cycle today and my opk's are waiting for me at the post office! I've been charting now for about 18 months and my cycle is around 28-33 days. It's hard to pinpoint exactly when af starts because I sometimes have spotting a few days beforehand. I have a general idea when I ovulate, but because I work irregular hours (nights and weekends, 24 h shifts), I need to plan ahead! So that's why I will be testing. I am excited to see if it works!

I personally think OPKs are worth it simply to help narrow down your O date. I went the first 3 cycles without using anything. When my 4th cycle started, I bought a box of 20 digital OPKs and started testing on CD10. I'm now on my 3rd cycle of using OPKs (currently CD13) and will continue using them until this original box is finished up. Based on the last 2 cycles of OPK data combined with CM info, I know that my O date is pretty regular and am hoping that this month will once again confirm that

I definitely think they're worth it but I have silly cycles that range from 31-60 days so I kinda have to to know when I'm going ovulate. It does also help my POAS addiction though coz I get to pee on something EVERY DAY!! :D

I get them in bulk from Home Health UK and they're dirt cheap. I just paid £13 for 80 OPK's and 20 of their 10miu pregnancy tests. (I spent £60 altogether but I also bought Clearblue Ovulation tests with smiley face, FRER hpt's and Clearblue Digis. Oh, and a new BBT). :D They're cheaper than Boots etc so I HAD to ;)

XxX:kiss:

Honestly for over a year I didn't think OPK's mattered because we would hit the day eventually but I was wrong. Using OPK's are great because you get to see when you're ovulating which will let you know that it's time to BD as much as you can. My first month of using OPK's and bding like suppose to and with my husband taking zinc and bam I just found out I'm pregnant a few days ago. So yes they are worth it:)

Thanks Ladies, really appreciate your advice and input, AF arrived again :growlmad: so heading off to the pharmacy to have a look at the OPK's. Fingers crossed they help us out this month:thumbup:

OPKs don't work for me- I get a faint line (not a true positive) for 3 days and I use an OPK every 12 hours. I don't know why it doesn't work for me but its easier to pinpoint my O day using CM CP and BBT.
