To cut a long story short, I'm ltttc and am experienced with opks and hpt, but this month I've confused myself.

I know opks can detect pregnancies, but how soon do they turn positive? I'm 9dpo and did an opk out of curiosity. It's negative (in terms of opks) but would it be completely blank usually?

Does it have to be a positive opk to count?

I think I have seen ladies have positive OPKS when AF was due and then they got a BFP but negative OPKS still usually have a faint line so it's hard to say ! You can also have an LH surge before AF !
Best to just take an HPT to be sure , good luck :)

The opk has to be very positive not just faint like a hpt. Good luck though!

OPKs usually aren't as sensitive to hCG as HPTs. They take longer to show positive if you are pregnant, usually after missed AF.

That's what I thought. Thankyou!
I had an obvious positive before my mc in September but only tested after my period was due.

I used an opk just for fun with this pregnancy very early on and it was a very DARK positive by this point my hpts were dark too
