I was just wondering if anyone has had the same as me or knows what this pain could be because after having it on and off for over a year it is driving me completely crazy !

I have had pains in my side (lower right abdomen, dull ache, but somehow sharp pains, makes me feel like I need to empty my bowels) on and off for a while. But last May it got really bad and I was admitted to hospital with suspected appendicitis. After 4 week in the hospital, many blood tests and an ultrasound (where they concluded that my appendix looked fine and all they could see is a functioning cyst on my right ovary) so they decided, better be safe than sorry and took out my appendix. Afterwards I was told my appendix looked fine and there was no sign or infection or anything else wrong with it (bare in mind this was all during my final A-Level exams so I was going crazy !). So I let it heal, was still in a lot of pain, thought it was just due to healing.

About six weeks after my appendectomy, I was still getting the pains so I went back to the doctor who looked through my notes, told me the cyst on my ovary was functional and my appendix was completely fine. So I asked why I was still getting the pain, at some points, to the same degree I was when I was admitted into hospital. She just said it was because I was still healing and it can take months to heal properly. Fair enough, but if my appendix was fine, then what was the pain in the first place ?!?!

In August I annoyed the doctors about the pain once again, this time they did a blood test and tested practically everything, tested urine and also sent me for another ultrasound, everything was fine and they couldn't find anything wrong at all !

I am still getting the pain, at the moment it is complete agony. I am currently using OPKs and thought maybe I could like the pain to ovulation, however the pain is particularly bad today, almost crippling and yet I have taken two OPKs, one this morning and one about two hours ago and they are both completely negative, not even a faint line, so I am not ovulating, and also if it was ovulation pain, why would it only be on the right side ? I just don't get it.

I also have a sharp pain in my upper right abdomen, right underneath my rib, less occasionally but when I do get it, it is crippling ! It feel like acid burning through my insides. When I went to the doctor about this, they said it was something to do with acid and gave me something to neutralise it, which just made the pains more frequent and more often. I went back and that's when they gave me the ultrasound for my upper and lower abdomen, as I have said before, they both came back completely clear ! My mum has also had the same pain in her upper abdomen for years, was admitted to hospital twice, had an operation where they found endometriosis and also the clips from when she had her tubes tied were missing, which they said could be causing the pain. But how would she get endometriosis on her liver (that makes no sense at all !) and also if it is the clips that are causing the pain, why am I getting it ?!?!

I was just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar or knows what it might be because it's driving me completely crazy and also I am worried if it will effect me trying to conceive (this is my first month TTC). I am a healthy 20 year old who eats healthy, is only very slightly overweight but not to any concern. I take vitamins and exercise gently but reguarly. I sleep well and I have no allergies so I have no idea what it could be !

Sorry for the long post btw !!!

hiya! im no expert but I've suffered off and on with stomach ulcers since my mid-teens. it can be the top of my tummy or the side or the bottom. sometimes it is honestly crippling!! has this been suggested hun? :flower: hope it goes away soon!

No, they never suggested that, will go to doctors again next week because I am missing so much university because of it. Thanks for your help !

Hi hun, I think I get this same pain every so often. I always think it feels like trapped air and just put it down to this. I also have endometriosis so put it down to that too. I'm not sure what it is so can't really help u but I will be keeping an eye on this thread.

Oh also endometriosis can spread to other organs in the body as blood escapes from the uterus and sticks to other organs :) x

Endometriosis can literally be anywhere inside there and can hurt like a biatch. Has anyone looked into possible irritable bowel syndrom? They sound very similar to the symptoms that I get and noone would ever come up with a proper diagnosis despite blood tests and ultrasounds (already had no appendix)

hope ur feeling better :flower:
