Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing palpitations and how you are dealing with them?

I have a history of palpitations but everytime i've been tested/monitored nothing shows up. Most times they come and go with racing heartbeats and very strong feeling beats with no ill side efficts after but sometimes they come with shortness of breath, or will drain the energy out of me. They come totally out of the blue when i'm active or non-active so Dr's can't find cause or reason. I've been to my family dr about it multiple times and into the ER from itbut still with no results.

Thyroid levels are normal, BP is normal, ECG's always come out perfect...I'm at such a loss and so worried how these will effect my pregnancy - and my well being to be honest as they are so frequent now.

I have gotten them bad in the past when i have been anxious, i have had heart monitors and all sorts but its all been put down to just stress.
When you get them instead of being scared, pretend to be strong and embrace them and say 'do your best palpitations!' Also try to do things to take your mind off of them whenever possible, things that make you laugh.
And try not to worry, they cannot harm you in any way!
I hope they pass soon.

Thanks for the reply Dee. The Dr's are starting to worry a little as they are starting to get quite frequent (every day to every other day it's been happening now)
Baby is looking good and healthy though. My BP was low today so the dizziness that's followed with the palpitations can be due to that. Dr is going to book me with a cardiologist as soon as I can get an appointment to make sure all is ok since nothing is coming up on blood work, hotler monitors and ekg's/ecg's.

The feeling that gets me worried the most is that I feel so drained for the rest of the day once it happens that no matter what I try to do after it happens I have close to no energy to even move.

I've had that problem for years. It only got diagnosed after I wore a monitor for 2 days. Mine is Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation. And being pregnant makes it worse in my case. There are some things you can do to stop an episode of whatever kind of palpitations you are having:

Vagal maneuvers are another type of treatment for arrhythmia. These simple exercises sometimes can stop or slow down certain types of supraventricular arrhythmias. They do this by affecting the vagus nerve, which helps control the heart rate.

Some vagal maneuvers include:

Gagging
Holding your breath and bearing down (Valsalva maneuver)
Immersing your face in ice-cold water
Coughing
Putting your fingers on your eyelids and pressing down gently
Vagal maneuvers aren't an appropriate treatment for everyone. Discuss with your doctor whether vagal maneuvers are an option for you.

I like the version where you hold your breath and stick your head between your knees, but I can't do that right now.

Ive been getting them and have v low bp at the mo so the Dr thinks it must be due to that

I had them before I got pregnant and now I get them every so often and it does worry me because I don't want it to hurt the baby...You have a right to be concerned and I hope your doctor finds a solution for you...Glad to hear the baby is ok though...Good Luck hun

I have had them with this pregnancy and my last. I have an autoimmune disorder that affects my thyroid and I was told that has something to do with it. When it happens to me I feel like I've been hit in the chest and all my air has been taken away. Is kinda scary but I'm used to it now.
Good luck

I used to get them occasionally before getting pregnant, but in the middle of my second trimester I started getting them quite badly. Slow, relaxed breathing used to help me as if I panicked when I got them, they'd get worse. It was around weeks 20-22 I got them and they soon passed.

I hope they soon disappear x
