So we have our first class tonight - labour and birth, and I'm not convinced I want to go! Partly because I have a horrible cold and really can't be arsed to get of the sofa and partly because I'm really not into classes and things if they involve having to get up and 'do' stuff in front of the class, I'm very shy (and anti social, lol) and so is OH!
So just wanted to know what happens really? If its just sitting and listening then I may drag myself out there tonight, but if I'm expected to take part in any activities or share my life story then I'll give it a miss I think!

I went to two classes. Labour and birth and the second one was about feeding and caring for baby. I really think you should go. My class involved no audience participation unless you wanted to. OH found it quite informative aswell. Mine were I the hospital that I'm giving birth in. They tell you all about the hospital facilities and the dos and donts in that particular hospital. I enjoyed the classes

Thank you for your reply! Mine is not at the hospital unfortunately as our area is covered by 3 different hospitals but will make an effort to go then if its worth it! Thanks again!

I second what numpty said. Im going with my hubby tonight and we both really enjoy it! x

I found the first one boring and felt that even as a ftm I knew everything they told me. It's personal preference really.

Hmmmm, yes I've heard a few people say this! I'm pretty clued up on what happens and what I want so just don't really see the point, especially as I feel like crap anyway! And OH is really not that keen to sit in a room with a load of strangers discussing the ins and outs of child birth!!lol!

I wasn't going to go - for all the same reasons but I told myself I've got nothing better to do and what's the worst that'll happen...it'll bore me and if I learn something while I'm there, all the better :) everyone told me there's no point going and that it's a waste of time but I figure I don't have anything else to do and if I learn something new that's great, I've got 3 separate ones going up to my week 38 and I'm going alone :/

I went to my 2nd and final class today, im a clued up ftm, and whilst it was boring most of the time, I did learn something when they were on the topic of breast feeding.

Plus I was a little anxious about if I would produce milk etc as my boobs dont seemed to have changed that much really and n0t showed any sign, but after they showed how you correctly hand express and I tried it when I got home, I found I DO have a little colostrum already!

Happy Days lol
