Hey just wondering if any of you guys in the UK had to pay for scan pics? Is this the normal kinda thing to happen? X

Hiya hun, I had my scan in Norfolk and Norwich hospital in er..Norwich in Norfolk haha, and it cost me £3 per pic. We had to buy tokens from the machine in the waiting room. We had to buy them after the scan after we had said how many we would like and how many clear images they could get. Word of warning, the machine that we had to get the tokens from only accepted £1 coins. This may not be same for all hospitals. Hope that helps in some way :/.

a H&H pregnancy to you xxx

Different hospitals have different policies, but it does seem to be pretty much everywhere that asks you for a small charge for the pictures. I have seen people say between 2 pounds and 10 pounds so quite a range.

I've only had scans in the EPU so far and they have only asked for a tiny donation but I think the standard 12 week one will cost a bit more. I guess it costs them for the shiny paper so they have to cover cost as really they don't need to print a picture at a scan, they just need to record measurements. The picture is just because it is nice for you. I guess it makes a bit of extra cash for the antenatal unit too! I'd take a tenner with you and expect to have a few pounds change.

They always print pictures for their records here. They gave me pictures at my last two scans, but I had to pay for the scan. (I am in the US.)

Have got my scan later today and on the letter it said that photos where £5 each. Thats at bournemouth hospital x

at my hospital it is £5 for the token and you get about 4/5 picture depending on what they can get, with my first baby and the 12 weeks scan we got it for free but we werent meant to, i dont mind paying £5 for something like that :)

I've had three scans at two different hospitals and not one charged us or had a donation fee for photos. Maybe thats just here in Northern Ireland

in reading i had to pay 2quid but get one free as well so not bad

Nope im not complaining about the fact you have to pay, id pay any amount of money to have the first picture of my baby! Thanks for the input guys :) xx

My letter says £4 per picture and that it has to be paid in pound coins. Does this mean, if we want 3/4 pictures then we would have to pay £12/£16? We have started saving our pound coins!

Oh i tell i lie!, had my scan and it was £5 but i got 6 different shots which was nice, don't mind paying £5 for that :) x

I haven't received my letter about my scan even though I know it has been booked so don't know if I have to pay or how much. Does anyone know the process for Brighton's Royal Sussex County Hospital?xox

I actually didnt have to pay for anything and they gave me a disk with about 25 pictures on it which I'm pretty sure is all the photos they took. Thats in Canada though
