hello ladies! :) it's been a long while since I logged on here. I'm looking for advice, success stories, or just people in the same boat as me really! me and my OH have been trying for a baby since June. we haven't had any luck, as I was having very irregular periods. on thursday I had a scan at the hospital, I've been diagnosed with PCOS. I'm now waiting to be referred to a fertility clinic, as we are TTC. I'm so scared, upset, disappointed and extremely jealous of anyone with a newborn baby, or bump!

I'd really love to hear I'm not alone, or some success stories would be great, just to get me feeling positive again! my OH really wants us to have a baby, because as much as he loves my daughter, she isn't his as I had her from a previous relationship. we're getting married April 2015, and having a little bump would really top things off.

thanks in advance. :flower: x

First of all hugs :hugs: I was so upset when I was first diagnosed and thought I was never going to be able to have children but now I have an amazing 2 year old little boy.

I was diagnosed after 3 years ttc and I wasn't ovulating at all by myself. I was prescibed a fertitly drug called clomid and conceived my first month on them but sadly had a m/c but my third month on them I convinced my little boy. I've even had a natural pregnancy since then so there is a light at the end of tunnel x

That's really great to hear! Did your GP put you on Clomid? Or did you have to go to a fertility clinic? I'm hoping my GP will give me something on Tuesday. X

No I was referred to the fertility clinic before I got diagnosed with PCOS, that's how I found out. I don't think a GP can prescribe it. There's different doses and days of taking it so it needs to be right for each person and their cycle. Your GP will probably refer you to a fertility specialist x

I found out I had PCOS when I was in my 20's I was going for months with no cycles and they found the cysts on U/S , its really nothing to be scared of because for me a healthy low sugar/ slow carb diet balanced my hormones where I was able to ovulate on my own and I went on to have 7 pregnancys, 4 of them resulting in healthy babys.

Wow, thanks for sharing this! Gives me massive hope! :flower:

Hugs, Rebecca! :hugs: I was diagnosed in May 2014 after very irregular cycles as well. DH & I would like to TTC around this time next year, but want to drop about 60 lbs (down to 125 lbs) in order to be healthy for pregnancy. Being overweight has really effected my cycles & my doctor has prescribed me Metformin to help the weight loss process. I understand your fear though! I'm terrified that I'll drop a bunch of weight only for it to not do anything & need to go on fertility meds. I hope your doctor can help you out though, I've heard many many success stories of women using Clomid!

Hi, I think I replied to your other thread but just wanted to add the FC have me a letter for my go who then wrote the prescription.

The FC couldn't write me a prescription but the gp wouldn't write one without a letter from the hospital :s it was no problem though once they gave me the letter at an appointment I picked up my prescription and started that day

Hi, replied to your other thread but this one seems more active so copying and pasting my reply...:

Had to reply as your post really touched me, because I'm in almost exactly the same position.

I have 10 year old twin boys from a previous relationship (who were conceived without even trying!) - and my partner and I have now been TTC one of our own since June/July.

I knew something wasn't right as I've been having some irregular bleeding (which I haven't had before) and I wasn't getting a definitely positive OPK some months. So although we'd only been trying 6 months or so, I went to the GP who agreed to look into the irregular bleeding.

Had blood tests and scan which confirmed 'mild PCOS' - which terrified me. What then made it worse, was that she told me I'm not entitled to any fertility clinic referrals or help because I already have children. So I was basically just sent on my way and told to 'keep trying' and it 'may just happen'...

I too feel jealous of anyone with a bump or a baby, and it's really getting me down that I feel like it's just not going to happen for us. We would have to save to get private treatment, so that's not going to be any time soon....

I'm sorry I can't offer any solutions as I'm trying hard to find some myself, LOL! All I can really say is that I'm glad that unlike me, you're getting the referral and the treatment that may help you :)

I had regular periods then in February this year they just stopped completely. I waited until I had missed 4 then went to the doctors, they referred me to a gynae clinic who scanned me and diagnosed PCOS. I was sent on my way with a prescription to induce a bleed then had to go back. At my 2nd appointment I was referred for an HSG test which came back clear. On my THIRD appointment I was prescribed Clomid. I had 2 months of 50mg which didn't produce ovulation so I was then told to up to 100mg. Month 1 I had a chemical pregnancy, month 2 nothing, month 3 my BFP and I'm currently 7 weeks and 1 day pregnant with my first scan this Thursday!

You'll get frustrated with the process but once you've got the Clomid and you know what level works for you, it can happen very quickly!!

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 12 years ago. I was 13 so super early. I was put on femara and conceived first cycle in January. Tried it again, but didn't conceive. Then again and it failed to make me ovulate. So this time I tried the natural route and took vitex and conceived first cycle. You can definitely conceive on it. I was taking cinnamon to lower blood sugar but that's not baby safe so now I'm using apple cider vinegar. Chin up. It can happen.

Sorry, don't want to thread hijack - but do you mind me asking how much Vitex you took? I'm considering getting some as I'm not entitled to Clomid/Femara but I don't know about dosage...

1600mg/day. Which for me was 4 pills. In the am on an empty stomach about an hour before I ate. Will continue through the first tri. It's done wonders for me.

Congratulations! :D I hope your scan goes well. Thank you for all the replies ladies. X

I also have pcos, my obgyn diagnosed it. We have been Ttc for a year, I have only had about 4 periods this year. My dr skipped clomid and went right to the femara, it has less side effects and is more effective. AF is due Thursday, but I have everything crossed that she doesn't show and I get my first :bfp:

Good luck, I hope you get some answers at thee fertility clinic..
