Hi ladies I’m needing help, advice, buddies with PCOS. I’m still waiting to be officially diagnosed and have been referred to a fertility clinic. I already have 2 children. So help me understand, when and how were you diagnosed? What symptoms did/do you have? Was/is it permanent? ( iv read there’s temporary types ) what happens next? Thank you so much 😊

I was diagnosed whilst TTC DS2 (we had difficulties conceiving DS1 but the GP said it was high prolactin caused by the medication I was taking and prescribed clomid which worked).
Whilst TTC DS2, I experienced around 4 months of bleeding. I had blood tests at the GP and was referred to a gynaecologist. The difference in my FSH and LH numbers on my blood tests, continuous bleeding/irregular cycles before that, difficulties with weight gain/loss and excessive hair growth were all factored in when the gynaecologist diagnosed PCOS. He prescribed metformin and advised that losing weight would help too. He was also going to prescribe clomid at the next appointment. However, in the 3 months between appointments, I took the metformin and went on a low GI diet. I dropped 20kg, the continuous bleeding stopped and I found out I was pregnant a week before the scheduled appointment.

Also worth adding, I find my cycles are more regular when I’m below a certain weight. It’s hard to keep the weight off though! I have to be very careful with sugar/carbs.

Thank you for sharing, I really don’t know what’s going on with me ( still waiting for more testing ) I only seem to have some of the symptoms. I had no issues with conceiving my other children, but now I am, I’m irregular, midcycle spotting, and my ovaries presented as polycystic but I’m thin, Im losing hair, I’m having very mild acne only a couple pimples here and there. And from my last hormone blood test the dr said it was all normal? I am going back for a cd 21 test and a fasting colesterole test. So hopefully that will shed some light

From what I remember, you only need a certain amount of the criteria to have a PCOS diagnosis. It’s a syndrome so it’s just a way to describe a set of symptoms.
Hope you get some answers soon!

Hi I have pcos too.i was 22 when I got diagnosed I'm 28 now. It took me 2.5 years to conceive ds .my cycles were very irregular pretty much non existent! I had to take a drug called neothisoterone which makes you bleed then I took clomid on some cycles days and it caused me to ovulate because I wasn't.i conceived my son on 100mg. I am overweight but not hugely.get the odd stray eyebrow as I call them ! I think if you have pcos itself life.someare mild some are very bad. I'm currently awaiting an appointment for my next fertility bits to find out what's happening aS been TTC for over a year now with no luck .I wish u good luck xx

Thanks ladies, I’m. Aware you only need some of criteria to be diagnosed according to my doctor you need to have any 2 of three symptoms 1. Polycystic ovaries on scan, 2. Elevated male hormones / hormone imbalance and 3. Irregular periods ect if I remember correctly. I really feel like what I have isn’t true PCOS but I could be wrong I feel it’s somthing to do with BCP and my body not recovering as fast as it has previously? It’s just so out of the ordinary for my body. Did you ladies lose hair? Or have excessive hair? Wishing us all the best and lots of baby dust x

I think thinning hair on your head is a sign. Excess body hair is a sign. Im almost wondering if I have some type of pcos. I conceived my first 3 kids easily and very quickly. We have been ttc #4 for 6 months with no luck. Just seems so weird to me and I feel something is probably off. I have my day 21 blood work on Thursday since I know/think I ovulated last Thursday. I say know/think because I had positive OPK's, but I'm wondering if I am truly ovulating or maybe have weak ovulation. One weird thing is the day before I ovulated I had an ultrasound to rule out any weird abnormalities. The ultrasound tech measured my follicles and she saw a few small ones on my left ovary. Much too small to be ready for ovulation. She saw one on my right side that was the biggest of all of them and she told me it was about half the size it needs to be to be mature. I didnt think much of it. I was on day 14 of my cycle at the time and I normally ovulate closer to day 18-24I figured it would have enough time to mature. But that night I got a positive opk! So now I'm worried my eggs arent maturing fully before I ovulate. I hope the day 21 blood work will shed some light. They are going to test my thyroid level and progesterone and something else I cant remember. I also want to get my estrogen and something else tested on cycle day 3. That will also help me understand if my hormones are normal or not. I also have had some thinning hair starting about 2.5 yrs ago. I now wonder if this is related? Not huge amounts of hair loss but I always felt my hair was more on the thick side and now its more normal/thin. My periods are kind of irregular too, but they have always been since I started my period at 14 and I had no issues conceiving before, so who knows. I dont know what to think. The Dr. did mention clomid to me and I will probably take some next cycle. It may help my eggs mature?

Also, my hair started thinning when I had the copper IUD put in. It's non hormonal which is why I got it. The copper irritates the uterus making it inhospitable for pregnancy. When you think about it, doing that to your uterus can throw the hormones off balance anyway. You dont need to actually introduce hormones to your body for them to go wacko. Right after getting it my hair would be all over the bathroom after blow drying it. It wasnt like that before. I also suddenly had heavy painful periods. I got it out after about 1.5 yrs My hair doesnt fall out as much but I havent noticed it being any thicker either. I have had the IUD out for about 1.5 yrs now. Im worried I messed something up in there with the IUD.

Another thing I want to add is I am thin. I have a pretty low BMI, around 16-17. But have been like this while TTC my other kids and no issues. I am naturally this way so i dont think gaining weight will help. I have been trying to eat more healthy fats like nuts etc. for the last few months. Its all just so frustrating!

Hello! I was diagnosed on Monday 1.29.18 with PCOS. I am 27 years old and have been TTC for about a year now.
A few of my symptoms were acne, weight gain, irregular periods (cycles from between 35-60 days, avg. 40 days), 1 cyst on my ovaries, and multiple bilateral ovarian follicles (last two were diagnosed with a trans. vag. ultrasound).
My PCOS didn't present itself until I was taken off of BC and went to an endocrinologist fertility specialist. My understanding through my doctor and research is that PCOS is not something you can treat and correct it is something you manage for the rest of your life through medication when TTC, diet and exercise.
I was put on Metformin to start to regulate my cycle, once that takes place we will start with Clomid in order to help conceive. I am just at the start of my journey with PCOS but if you have any questions let me know!!

I had the same as you - irregular periods and cysts on my ovaries, but my hormone levels were normal. I was diagnosed following a scan after a miscarriage, but I’d had very painful periods for years, and very long cycles, I’ve always lost a lot of hair, but I don’t know where from as I’ve always had a good head of hair! plus I struggled with my weight. I had another scan a couple years later and the cysts has gone and taken the pcos with it. Hopefully it will be the same for you and just be a temporary thing.

Thanks ladies sorry I hadn’t been on this thread in a little while and only just saw some of your comments. It’s a strange thing isn’t it? I have seen felt differences in my body over the last couple months since all this started and I’m hoping it’s a sign things are inproving. For example I had lots of small follicles on each ovary and the dr asked if I was in pain I said no not really but I did get the odd little pain in the area of my ovaries ( I would imagin ) and particularly on the side with the slightly larger ovary and at supposed ovulation time but it wasn’t until after I saw my dr that I noticed this but now I haven’t had that feeling for a couple months. I do have some hormone results waiting for me at the dr which I will go check later in the week. Baby dust to all
