I will e starting mum to mum peer support course soon. It enables you to give peer support to oher BF mummies. Has anyone else done this? I'm guessing it will give me a great sense of achievement when I'm able to help a mummy out of a hole.

its something i really want to do, but dont have a clue how to get into! plus with me only being 20 it might work against me. or it could work for me...

i think lisa and hevz have done the course xx

oh and can you do them if you stop bf early? i stopped at 5 months, but only cos my milkwent!

How do you do it?? Sounds amazing!!!

I haven't done it but was recently discussing it actually. Really fancy doing that type of thing to give others help as i didn't really have many people to support me that way. Everyone we know was bottle fed apart from my OH. as the others asked how did you find a course in your area?

i think you are doing a brilliant think Kat

Me, Hevz & I think Lyns too :happydance:

Age doesnt go against you but they do like you to be BFing obviously - not sure about if you've stopped. I got involved after helping at Parentcraft but your local BF group should know. It's usually a ten week course and if you ask at your BF group they will tell you who co-ordinates in your area and when they plan to run a course :)

Or ask your Birth Centre or MW led unit maybe??

YOU would be ace Claire x It's as much about just being there and listening as anything else :hugs:

i don't think we have a local breastfeeding group. I've never been informed about one anyway :dohh:

Thanks Lisa  not sure if they will wont someone with an older baby though!

The lass who I first met was BFing her 3 yr old!! So no Claire, I think they just want BFing mum's at any stage :)

no, they're in liverpool or manchester, about hour and quarter on a train.

I did it and they wanted women who had BF, not just ones that were. It was actually better if your kids were up a bit as you did it in the hospital and I struggled to get childcare, hence why I don't do it any more. Ours was done through the NHS, so there was loads of red tape and faffing around.

lilbump, if you ask your HV there should be some BF groups in your area. there was loads round me, but i never bothered cos they were all in areas i didnt particularly want to go to. of course the week i stopped, they started one at my clinic didnt they!!
