Pet portraits, popular?

Im a bit of an artist and love drawing using pencil, charcoal and chalk, oil paints, pastels, mostly animals, has anyone commissioned to have any work done as I dont know how popular it is these days, as was thinking at trying my hand at making some money out of it?

Think you have to be pretty good, and maybe start out doing a couple of freebies to get the word out. Word of mouth is the best thing.

^^WSS...I'd love a portrait of my doggie...I'm quite good, but no good at animals, so i probably would comission a picture
