Had the dreaded phonecall this afternoon with results from blood tests and my daughter has been tested positive for cystic fibrosis, have not stopped crying since! stupidly looked it up on the internet and read all t he horror stories. have an app tomorrow with the consultant. Am so scared!!! no one on either side of our families has had this or is known to be a carrier!

Sorry to hear your news, stay strong xx

gypsydancer (I think that is her username?) also has a son with cystic Fibrosis, the outlook these days is very good, perhaps you could PM her? xx

Big :hugs: to you hun. I don't really know much about cf but I think the prognosis is much better than what it used to be, with improved treatments and things.

Fingers crossed for your appt tomorrow

Xx

I am so sorry hun:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

I am sure it doesnt help much right now but the prognosis for CF now is soooo much better.

Make sure to write your list of questions for your appointment tomorrow.

:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

Thank you everyone, trying to stay strong and stay positive but very hard! every time i look at her i burst into tears x

I'm so sorry for you. In some respects I know how you feel as at our 20 week scan, we were told Freya has Spina Bifida - again no-one in our family has it, and I was taking all the right precautions.

As others have said, with medical advances, the outlook for loads of conditions (CF and SB included) are loads better now. Wait and see what the consultant says before panicking too much - you will usually find the medical professionals who actually work with people/children with that specific condition are much more positive as they have seen how people live with the condition, and how much they can achieve. It'll be OK xxx

I'm so sorry hun.. Like many have said the prognosis is so much better than it was years ago. I have a cousin who has it and is living a full and happy life, she is in her 30's, married and they've just adopted a baby!

:hugs: I'm so sorry. I hope you have someone to go with you so you remember to ask all the questions and to help remember the answers! Xx

WSS

My high school boyfriend had it (I'm 31) and said his doctor told him to expect a full normal life. And I'm sure things have gotten even better now.

Sorry to hear it hon. Hope the appt goes well tomorrow x

Oh hun, sending you great big hugs. I have heard that things are much more positive with CF than they were just a few years ago. Lots of love to you, let us know how your appt goes tomorrow xx

Oh no, I am so, so sorry. I know a girl with CF, she is inspirational and at 30 is leading a very happy, fulfilling life.

I know it's terrifying... :hugs:... What a difficult phone call to get.
