How much pink/redness in baby's bum crack is normal? My baby's always seems a bit red when I take his diaper off and turns pink once it airs out a bit. He usually doesn't have any red dots or else I give him cream and he doesn't seem sore at all. I try to give him a bit of diaper free time everyday. Does he always have a bit of diaper rash or is the pink/redness to be expected?

A little pink is normal...It won't hurt to put some cream on him regardless though and see if that makes it go away after a few days? If it is red, raw-looking, and he cries or squirms when you wipe him he may have a rash and need cream.

Diaper rash is very common when babies are teething, and aren't a concern unless it gets really bad, bleeding and baby screaming during changes....Then it's time to see a doc

My LO had a little reddish pink in the crack when he was in cloth dipes, but I switched to disposables yesterday and it's gone  I think it is normal, he never indicated any discomfort from it.

He's pretty much always had it and it doesn't go away with cream. It's not sore though, he never makes a face or gets upset when I wipe him.

It sounds like he has a slight diaper rash. It might not be sore enough for it to bother him or at this point he may be used to having it and has got over the pain. I would recommend you apply ointment for the next few days for every diaper change, only wipe him with water/soft cloths, and let him soak in an oatmeal bath.

Try swapping wipes for cotton wool and water for awhile the chemicals in wipes could be irritating or making it worse.
When ever baby has nappy rash I always change to cotton wool and water and then apply bepanthen cream, wipes tend to make it worse.
