Please can someone help me????

Hi, so my LO is nearly 3wks old and super greedy.... She started wanting more than 3oz after just a few days so I upped her to 4....... Since last week 4oz havent been enough so I put her on 5 (midwife said that was ok)........ She feeds pretty much every 4 hours and nearly always drains the bottle - She had a little less this morning (about 3/4oz) and this afternoon took her full 5oz like she was starving and is crying for more - Surely she cant be hungry?? I dont know what to do - She was 7lb 5oz when she was born and is now at 8oz - I dont want to make her ill but I cant leave her upset if a bit more milk is all she wants but what if she doesnt stop?? I burp her real good so I dont think its wind (but could be?????) Someone please help me, I dont know what to do for the best x

Try a little cooled boiled water first. My midwife advised me of this as my son was the same and she said they may b thirsty rather than hungry. Try thr water first and if this doesnt settle her then give her more milk! She may make a face at the water as some babies dont like it, tho dont put anything else in it!! Ooooh, ill try that - Dumb questions....... How much should I give? And should I wait a certain amount of time after her feed or before her next feed? I dont want it to curdle or anything lol xx Thank you for replying hun - Apart from feeding/winding/cuddling her I dont know what else could be the problem so im getting scared now xx

Hi - don't panic, your baby won't make herself ill if she wants more milk. My son was the same weight born and is now 4 weeks 3 days old and he has 6oz bottles, sometimes 7oz. If they take too much milk they will just spew it up! So go with the flo and have faith, I am sure you are doing a great job x

No problem, i was the same! Just let her lead u! She will take as much as she wants! Ypu will do no harm by giving her more milk as she will bring up anything she doesnt want or need! I believe in feeding on demand! When they are hungry they will let you know and when they have had enough they will stop! The water is good for them anyways!

Thank you all so much I really dont understand this little girl........ The water made her cry more so I gave in and made her some milk up - She took just over 1oz and has now fallen asleep although shes still stirring but so much more settled - All that fuss for 1 blooming oz!!! lol xx (Im wondering if shes getting a cold or something aswell, sounds really phlegmy) xx

If she continues like that you should up her bottles by 1oz just incase she wants that wee bit more. You really just go by her! My son is 6 weeks and gets a 6oz bottle but doesnt always take the full 6, better too much than not enough!!

I say just give her what she wants. It's amazing how quickly their appetite grows after they are born! She's a growing girl and is letting you know she'd like some more please mummy!

At this age there is a huge growth spurt so just give as much as she wants and the amounts she wants may even go down after a few days xx
