Hey mums my LO hasn't pooped for a week now i took her to GP yesterday she said she can't give her any medication she is too young now , she is not in pain or anything but still i think one week is not normal she used to poop everyday and first time its been a week now , i have tried all baby massage so far it doesn't seem to work she is on breastmilk only but a week ago i tried to give her some baby rice porrige please help I am really worried

At your baby's age my daughter was only pooping every 7 - 10 days, and she was exclusively breastfed.

It is pretty normal for a bf baby to go up to 10 days and even longer between poops once they are a little older.

Does she seem uncomfortable? Writhing in pain/straining?

:hugs:

If she isnt in any pain I wouldnt be too concerned :hugs:

If she was constipated she would be showing signs of discomfort.

Because breastmilk is so perfect for your little girl it means that her body uses nearly every single bit of it and there is very little waste. At her age her body will have become more efficient and therefore even less waste and longer between poops.

The solids might have made things a little slower than they would have been otherwise but I wouldnt feel guilty about it.

Just keep an eye out for any discomfort and I would just keep up the massage, warm baths, cycling her legs during nappy free time, plenty of tummy time etc :flower:

It's pretty normal for breastfed babies to go so many days without pooping. Breastmilk is perfect for you LO so there's simply not much waste. If she's not in pain or discomfort then she's not constipated!
There's babies that go longer than a week without a poo! And other babies poo 5 times a day! Nothin to worry about!

If she starts to get uncomfortable, maybe try some well diluted prune juice? I gave this to leo a few times when he was really constipated, my dietician said its fine as long as its well diluted x

Bethan used to go 10-11 days between dirty nappies. It happens with breastfed babies; don't worry.

I gave my baby watered down orange juice. That worked really well.
