Please help...I'm so confused

Ok, apologies in advance if this gets long but I'm so confused right now I don't know where to turn...

A week and a half ago I was here announcing that I'd just got a positive pregnancy result 6 days beforte my period was due. It was faint but a definite line on 2 consecutive days. The very next day I started to bleed, it was quite heavy and lasted two days. I took another test at the end of the bleed and it came up negative. I presumed it was all over and wrote my farewell post.

Anyways, over the last week I've had an amazing craving for fruit, and the boobs etc have continued to to be sore, mild cramping and occasional sickness and going to the loo like i got a urine infection. I thought it was all in my mind, not grieving properly for my loss so today bought another test to show myself there was nothing there and hopefully put my mind to rest... The problem is, it came up positive, still faint but much darker than the original positives I've had. I've not had intercourse since I would have concieved last time. Could it be possible, even after a heavy bleed that I am infact still pregnant? I never went to the doctor, never had anything confirmed via scan etc. I would have put money on the fact I thought I was carrying twins, being my 6th child I'd never experienced symptoms so strong at one 3+1weeks, infact throughout any of my pregnancys. Could I have been infact carrying twins, lost one which sent my levels down to that of only a singleton and being so early before my AF was actually due I got a negative result but now at 4+6 my levels have risen enough to show up on a test?

I'm going to do another test in the morning, see what that says and if it's the same will make an appoinment with my GP and see what he thinks but would love for any of you to tell me what you think, experienced the same or similar and would a test result still be faint at 4+6?

I wouldn't even take a test, I would go to the dr. and let them do the testing. I would say its possible it was twins. The wierd thing is the negative then positive. People who m/c early can still have positive tests (while the hormone is leaving the body)...but I've never heard of a negative test before a positive. Def. sounds weird!!

I really hope that was the case for you and you still have one cookin in there!! Good luck and let us know what the test & dr. say!!!

What type of tests have you been using?
The twin thing I'd think is entirely possible, in fact I think its quite common.

I've only used cheap tests...the ones off ebay or the £1 ones from the local shop. The one I did today was one from wilkinsons, it was a little more expensive than the others but thought it might me more accurate.

The negatve could have also been from over hydrated pee. I had a BFN after I got BFPs for 4 or 5 days- then got another BFP that night (drank a lot of water an hour before testing with the BFN). If very well could have been a twin- it's hard to say so I would talk to your dr. GOod luck.

Strawberry, fingers crossed it's good news for you.

I'm not sure, but definitely see your doctor as whatever's happened should be in your records. It's definitely possible that it's a twin, especially given your early testing and symptoms. That seems like a pretty good fit.

It also strikes me as possible that given how early you were when you tested, there was only one baby and it survived the bleed, and your test didn't pick up the hcg because of normal fluctuations in hcg content in your urine.

Finally, maybe it's possible that there are simply some retained products of conception, and it's again just the result of normal fluctuations in your urine content.

A couple beta hcg test can help figure this out. If I were you, I'd be poas all the time, but please don't do it - you'll drive yourself mad.

Def sounds strange hun, but I did follow another lady who had a full heavy AF and was still pregnant after so its totally possible.

Using the different tests could account for some being bfp and then getting a bfn too. I know it took me forever to get a pos result on an IC but a FRER picked it up at 11dpo!

Best of luck honey. Hopefully the dr will be able to provide some answers but I'd say you're definitely not out of the running. It could have been a twin or it could have just been withdrawl bleeding. Many people get a heavy period and are still pregnant. It's not totally common, but I've read several instances of it happening just on this board alone.

Also, the BFN test could have been faulty or dilluted pee like MissFox said. Lots of things that could cause that.

Please update us on Monday after the dr appointment.

I always hear line is a line and you can get a false negative but not positive!! Good luck

Hi, I am going through something a bit similar but I wont have any answers until monday either!
LMP 18th june, +ve hpt at 4 weeks, quite strong lines. I carried on poas every few days because I'm silly! Somewhere between 5-6 weeks had a small bleed, digi went from 2-3 weeks to 1-2 weeks and hpt went to a barely there line.
I guessed id mc so waited for bleeding. I lost all the few symptoms I had and felt 'normal'. I couldnt get to docs during 6 weeks hols because I had my daughter so tried to get an appt on thursday but my doc not in until monday. I rang epu saying I suspected id had a mmc and she went through what to expect if it was a mmc. For some reason I decided to poas but only had opk which was a stronger +ve than I ever got while ovulating so went and got some hpt. Did one thursday afternoon immediately strong +ve, my ic arrived yesterday so did another one in the afternoon and again a strong +ve. Both lines came up as the control line came up.

So I too have no idea what's going on inside, waiting from thursday till monday is driving me mad!!

it's very possible it could have been twins. my mom had twins (me & my brother) and she said she instantly felt all the symptoms. they are intensified with twins because there are 2 in there. and it is possible to get a negative then a positive. my best friend had gotten a postive, then negative, then positive and she had a healthy little girl! but i would definitely go to your dr

I am going through the exact same thing as you. I bled for last friday till Sunday but so different from normal. My boobs are still sore and this morning I threw up and the tiredness is ridiculous. tested positive on a cheapie last night. I think I am going insane.
