Hi,

I'm 6w + 6days pregnant and I've been experiencing painful stomach cramps for about a week now. Up until yesterday they have been fairly manageable and between a 5-7 out of 10 for pain. I have been quite constipated so attributed this pain to this and my gp recommended fybogel which I've taken for the past 2 days.

However over the last couple of days, I have had episodes of 5-10 mins where the pain has been excruciating. I have been literally doubled over on the bathroom floor crying my eyes out and being sick from the pain. My boyfriend called the out of hours doctor yesterday who sent paramedics but I'd finished cramping by the time they arrived and they also said it is likely constipation and uterus growing. I have not had any bleeding.

My concern is that I appreciate I will get a certain amount of cramps but this has been pain like I've never felt before. The Fybogel seems to be working as I've been to the loo 3 times today (sorry tmi) but the cramping hasn't stopped. It just doesn't feel right to be in this much pain :-(

Please can anyone relate to this or give me any suggestions?

Thanks xx

I would see a doctor, where exactly is the cramping? Is it to one side? I would say if it's that painful it should definitely be checked out. Could be a number of things so try not to panic. Hope you're ok and sorry you're going through this :-(

Thank you for replying. It's right in the middle starting about halfway down from my belly button and radiating downwards. Paramedics said that it is less worrying than if it were on a side as this could be ectopic. I may make an appt to see my doctor on Monday again. Just can't put up with it much longer :-(

I just had my first prenatal appt and was told if I had any cramping that started say at a 2-4 and went to a 7-10 pain threshold to call right away as they would want to check it out. I think call your dr and be seen. Could possibly even be a cyst. You really won't know until you get checked. I don't think you should have pain that has you doubled over and not be seen. Sure it could be constipation too, but just go in to be sure. There's really so many possibilities sounds like a scan is needed to rule things out. Good luck!

Have you been going regular or have you not gone at all? I curl over in pain when I'm constipated. Have you had any pain in your shoulder at all? Xx

I definitely had some very painful, screaming-out-loud abdominal pain in the beginning of my pregnancy. I thought it was probably constipation and gas, plus my uterus growing, but I never found out for sure. I also had a lot of period-like cramping. It was terribly uncomfortable for awhile, but after I was about 11 weeks it finally started to calm down. Now at 19 weeks it's more like just stretching.

I definitely think you should see a doctor if it's that bad.
