You know what I find annoying? Resources can never seem to make up their minds about when the second tri starts. lol

My ticker says I am in it already at 12 weeks, though other doctors/ resources/ and book say the second tri starts anywhere from 12-15 weeks.

I know pregnancy can be counted differently but I am so impatient to get out of the first tri and into the second.lol

by Development:
This uses actual developmental stages to divide up a pregnancy. From LMP to 12 weeks the embryo develops all the major organs and becomes a fetus. From 12 weeks to 27 weeks the fetus continues developing and reaches viability. From 27 weeks on the fetus finishes development and prepares for delivery. Here the second trimester begins at 12w 0d and the third at 27w 0d.

by Gestation:
With this method you take the 40 weeks of gestation and divide by three. Here the second trimester begins at 13w 3d and the third at 26w 6d.

by Conception:
This method is where you take the 38 weeks of post conception development, divide by three, and add two weeks. Here the second trimester begins at 14w 5d and the third at 27w 3d.

I always went by 14 weeks. I am just impatient.

Hi hun, my pregnancy book says 12 weeks, my iphone app is 13 weeks and on here it says from 14 weeks so im gona go with the middle one and make the move at 13 weeks! Im impatient too! Lol!! xx

right take 39 weeks and divide by 3 that makes 13. end of 13th week you change trimesters, end of 26 and end of 39 you should have a baby. "trimester" means third. so you have to go by exact thirds. xx

thats it 'tri' means third. 40/3 is 13.3.
