So When I was ttc I checked my cervix regularly, to check for fertility signs, and I havnt checked it since i first fell pregnant, but I did tonight for some reason, and it was so soft that I could hardly tell where it was. Very squishy almost like it wasnt even there. I was google-ing this (a no-no i know) and now I am scared. Sounds like its not good and could mean preterm labor? but I have NO IDEA. Any responses would be greatly appreciated. Im sure i will be calling my dr right away in the morning cuz im kinda freaking out:sad2:

Please help!

Kiley

I wouldn't worry, I'm a cervix checker too and it's caused me a ton of stress.
From being too soft or too "short", I've freaked out countless times over it and it's always been nothing to panic over.
I actually think it changes from day to day, or that's what it feels like..
Lol, you can mention it to your doc but I can almost guarantee you're fine.. plus considering this is your first time checking it since you became pregnant for all you know it could have felt like that the whole time :) everyone's different.

I keep google-ing it and now I am really freaking out......help ladies!!

I was a regular cervix checker during TTC and I learned what my cervix felt like too. I had some bleeding at 6 weeks, and I swore my cervix was open/soft. Went for an ultrasound to find that everything was perfect, and my cervix was long and closed. Sonographer told me I wouldnt be able to tell if my cervix was open. Although your cervix is supposed to be firm/closed when pregnant, its allowed to change position as your uterus changes and grows.
If you've had no cramping, bleeding or loss of amniotic fluid, I think everything is fine. But its all too easy to say dont panic. I see you've had a loss before and you understand that pregnancy after is loss is certainly not easy. If you're really worried go to emergency and ask for a scan.

Hey hun. Please try not to check your cervix again! I stopped checking mine when i was about 8 weeks cause i would panic when it would move etc. I think if your cervix is soft this is normal as when i was ttc everyone would be happy if there cervix soft. I reckon everythings fine but call your doctor tomorrow if you're still worried! Xxx

I know nothing about it at all...but I just wanted to say try and relax! I'm sure everything is okay. I google stuff too and worry myself to death...it's one of my flaws lol

Mine is soft as well. I have bi-weekly cervix checks, and everything is normal and fine. :) I wouldn't worry, and I would definitely stop checking it.

Mine is very soft too - I googled and it said that the cervix should be soft during pg, mine also feels slightly open but that's apparently normal too if you've had a baby before.

Stop checking! You may cause yourself and infection

Thanks ladies, im going to call my dr this morning just to be on the safe side, and I wont be checking it again, 1st time since i became pregnant and I guess i was just curious. We'll see what she says. :) It just worries me because a lot of the searches came up with people talking about bedrest and that your cervix shouldnt be soft until later in pregnancy, like after 30 weeks or more. I guess i really didnt think it was a big deal to check it considering sex is ok and having a pee pee(lol) shoved in there is ok then i didnt think gently checking the outside of my cervix with my finger would be any big deal, but a lot of those searches also came up with people saying dont check it yourself, so I will not be doing it again:)

Thanks again!!

Kiley

:hugs:

I'm sorry for the scare hun.. I agree with the other ladies.. try not to be concerned. I've never once checked my cervix so I don't know anything about it. But I know when you go for u/s.. they do check that and if there is anything off, they'll let you know!

I wouldn't mess around in there my dear.. lol, I'm scared to actually! :hugs:

thanks holly:) I called my dr and she sd as long as i am not having bleeding or contractions that everything should be fine, and to not check it anymore:) She was wiggling around alot this morning so im sure everything is fine, just worried about every little thing with this pregnancy. PAL is hard :(

It certainly is hard! :hugs: I've had seven scans so far and 2 of those were 'panic scans' or just 'reassurance scans'. Its ok to worry over every tiny thing, because you cant help but worry. :hugs: :hugs:
