plz need advice? (chicken pox)

i am due next week & my daughter is having chicken pox,just started.Though i am immune i am too much worried how would the baby be safe when he would be here.

Anybody experienced it can advice me what to do?I am freaking out.Waiting for ur replies.

I think this is a higher risk problem closer to delivery. Hopefully as you stated, you are immune. This is definately something I would call my doctor/midwife about and see what they want to do. They may want to start you on antivirals just in case. I would mention it again when you deliver in case they want to give you both antivirals, even if you dont get the chicken pox. If your daughter just started with the chicken pox the baby will likely be exposed when he/she gets home.

I would ask your OB/midwife now, and before delivery, and I would ask the pediatrictian after delivery! Ask them about exposure for the newborn post delivery. I know it sounds a little over the top, but doctors forget things and from what I remember from nursing school chicken pox is a high risk thing close to delivery and for newborns. Dont mean to freak you out but I think this is something that should definately be addressed by your physician.

Hey there Im a midwife, dont worry at all flower, If you have had chicken pox, you are more than fine, you are fully immune and all immunity passed to your baby, so you an relax....phew xxxx

Good to know littlep! I wasnt sure how the immunities passed b/c of her previously being exposed. For some reason inremember the midwife who taught me making a big deal out of the whole herpes zoster & varicella viruses even with previous exposure. Maybe she just had different experiences with it?

i'd still be cautious hun n get more advice from ur own midwife and doc! I wouldn't want to take any chances x
