Hi Guys,

Had Mirena coil out last Oct, to TTC No 3, concieved two healthy daughters aged 4 and 2 no problems. Irregulare periods and long cycles since thing, knew something not quite right. Went to GP last week, took bloods and had scan. Have being diagnose with polycystic ovary on the right, they couldnt find the left ovary at the scan. I am really upset, but relieved that i have been so lucky to have my two girls without problems. I have been now referred to by Gyne, and i suppose im wondering what the next step is or if anyone else has been through this? They also found a possible fibroid on my utereus.

Would love to hear any similar stories

Thanks

Hi Sopava! :)
I also have pcos and a uterine fibroid. I've had a few u/s where they weren't able to find my left ovary too. Maybe we're long lost sisters!... :haha: I really don't understand why they can't find the ovary sometimes. Some u/s techs have told me that it is in an odd position.
On May 13th I had laparoscopic surgery to remove the fibroid and ovarian drilling to help me with the pcos. I didn't have any surgical problems and no post-surgical pain.
Have they discussed what your options are?

:dust:

I was just diagnosed with having PCOS in may.....and they couldn't find my left ovary for what felt like forever. The internal was very painful with her searching for it because she was moving it around in every direction and having my push down on my abdomen to try to find it.

For me the doctor said that I could start Metformin, which may or may not help me with ovulation. For now I am following the GI diet, which can help as well, for a few months to see what happens there.

She did talk to me about clomid, but to be prescribed that she would have to refer me to a fertility specialist and because I am still "pretty young" then I would most likely be bumped to the bottom of the list for over a year for those who are in their 40s or who are worse off (because I still ovulate once and a while).

I had no idea I had this because I have been on some form of BC for 10 years (BCP then depo then BCP again). As soon as i stopped BCP my cycles were not regular and I gained a lot of weight quickly.

Have got a cancellation for tomorrow with the gyne who delivered my two daughters, will know more then, Im wondering if i have had these problems all along and was lucky to convieve my girls, or if this has just developed recently. Loads of question for him tomorrow. Thanks for your replies.

you can definitely still have children, you may just not ovulate every month.
My SIL was diagnosed when she was 12, and now at 23 has a 3year old girl and 9month old boy
