Am 26years and was diagnosed with poly cystic ovaries in 2009 was told to let it be and come back when am ready to have a baby.

Fast forward to 2011, met the Doctor who asked me to do a pelvic scan, trans vaginal scan, hormonal profile test, thyroid test and HSG. In the H.S.G (which was very very painful) my tubes were patent and ok, womb ok, trans vaginal scan revealed poly cystic ovaries, hormonal profile showed i lack Oestradiol hormones.

Now the Dr. asked i do a Laparoscopy. I have been booked and am so scared. Dont know why am scared but am sooooooooo scared.

I have been TTC for 3 months now and hope that i conceive soon.

Can some one who has PCOS kindly share her experience with me and also how she manages it. Thanks

Hi, I have PCOS. tried for a child for 5 years before seeking help and getting diagnosed. I have insulin resistance and hi level testosterone which is common with PCOS.

I manage it by taking metformin, this can also help with Ovulation as with PCOS you do not tend to ovulate that often if at all. It also helps with unwanted hair and weight control as it levels out the insulin.

I also figured that I would help myself. Before I fell pregnant I went to the gym for a min of 45 minutes 5 days and had a personal trainer> I am a carb freak but I changed things like white bread sandwiches to pitta's stuff like that!

I still take my metformin untill 12 weeks. Then I have to stop. I have now changed gym to walking for 30 minutes in my lunch break and only eating carbs in the morning when I feel my blood suger is lowest.

If you ever want to know more, I have hundreds of self help books, recipes containing foods which are good for it.

Just remember, loads and loads of fresh fruit. The brighter the better :)

x

Thanks a lot Hannah. You made me happy now. I really would like to know more.

Dr. just called me now to cancel the laparoscopy appointment and said i should come in 2 weeks for drugs.

Would Start Exercising now and taking more of fruits.

I have added you as a contact on here so feel free to ask away whenever you have a questions. I spent months and months thinking I was a PCOS sufferer and was infertile and I would never have a child.

There are some really good pcos books. Living with PCOS is one and that has some great stuff in that.

Berries are brilliant, lots of natural sugar, low calorie and nice to snack on.

Its not massive changes I made. I orginally went to the gym cos I got to a size 16 and panic set in. Walking is great also just something to raise your metabolism so your body utelises the insulin correctly.

Are you in the UK? If so where from?

Am taking ur advice one and practicing them one after the other. Will also look for the book.

I also added you as a contact. Thanks again. Am new to this site and actually dont know how to send u a private message.

Iv been diognosied with suspected pcos. I came off the pill over a year ago and didnt have a period untill last week! and thats only becuase iv been back and too to the hospital for tests/scans tablets etc. im on metformin now. im taking ovulation tests this week but so far nothing. i have to try and concive and if i dont by feb then iv got appoinmnets for fertility tests etc. i have a friend who has the same as me and shes had children. and victoria beckham has pcos and shes popping out the kids. so theres hope for us yet xx

@Kaptain.Katie, Thanks, there is big hope for us and i hope + pray for u too that u conceive soon.

Hi Katie, There is hope. I was trying for a child for 5 years before I was diagnosed then treatment started and within 5 months was pregnant. PLease dont read too much on the ovulkation tests with PCOS as I used the clear Blue fertility monitor and it never showed a peak, just highs! The month I fell pregnant and the day I actually ovulated I just had some fun in the bedroom cos I wanted to rather than because I knew I was ovulating as the tests sticks didnt pick anything up. So it just goes to show.

PCOS is so common nowadays that the medication is so advanced that with that the chances of conceiving are high!

Yup another PCOS girl here hun:)What ever you need to ask im here:)

Wow thanks. the ovulation tests are showing feint lines. i think were gonna ignore them and just try every 2-3 days. OH is very excited at this method lol =)
Thank you x

Hi hun I have pcos (which i found out 7 yrs ago) and waiting on my laparoscopy I'm scared of the op :( do you know your date yet?x

Hi, I'm a bit surprised your doc is asking you to go for a Laparoscopy already! Surely you should give Clomid a go first?

Hi

Im due to have my internal scan tomorrow, and im really worried about it because they have mentioned PCOS. I have been on the pill since i was 15, came off them nearly a year ago and have been trying since Jan 11 with no luck. My AF is all over the place and not had one for 16 wks now.

I now know I have low progesterone from other tests and currently taking Clomid. I have found this thread really useful.

I have thought for a long time that I have PCOS, unexplained weight gain, unexplained hair loss and bad skin but AF was always fine so my GP told me there was nothing to worry about.

I dont know what will happen tomorrow but I am pretty scared about the whole thing!
