I've been having irregular periods since coming off the pill in august, had blood test results back to today with higher than normal levels of testosterone, tied in with the irregular periods my doctor has made a pre-diagnosis of PCOS. Me and my partner are booked in for a fertility talk with her on monday.

I am currently crying my eyes out at work and need some hope! What does this all mean?!

I have PCOS, my doctor seems to think ill be fine conceiving but that I should just be prepared for it to take some time. So we decided that before our TTC day we would start with ntnp to try and be more relaxed about it. I am convinced it will take 1+ yrs to get pregnant DH is much more optimistic and thinks it will be right away. We had to go back for a fertility talk, which was actually very helpful to us, he offered suggestions and referred us to a wonderful endocrinologist should we need it. He mostly just wanted to make sure we had enough info to cover all out bases, and ways I can manage naturally since we were heading into TTC. Don't stress! Everything will workout!

I have PCOS but I am also being told its possible.

I would say as long as you have eggs and he has sperm, it can happen!

It may take longer and maybe you will need help. But in the end, who cares how you conceived....as long as you have a baby!

Just try to relax and follow what the doctors are saying. If you or DH get stressed it can make things worse.

I also have PCOS and I was able to conceive my son while I was on the pill... Never say never!! We weren't going to be trying for a baby until this fall but now our boy will be 1yr in a few weeks! Chin up hun, don't worry unnecessarily it is never worth it!

pcos doesnt mean u cant !
Just that u get lesser options in an yr than some1 with regular periods n you might get frustrated or just miss the window.
relax ! if u ll stress it will delay ur ovulation more.

pcos doesn't mean that you can't conceive, but it may be more difficult! i have pcos and have a i year old son! if you have any pcos questions feel free to pm me :)

I also have PCOS, I to was upset of the unknown as hubby and I tried for almost 2 yrs before I was dx. How my doc explained it is that with PCOS you don't ovulate the way a normal women would bc your hormones are out of control. There's medications that can help you to ovulate. The wonderful part is, once you are able to ovulate, the odds of you conceiving is that of any healthy women. I know sooooo many women who have several children after being dx with PCOS. Don't let this dx knock you down. At least now you know what's going on with your body and it can be addressed.

Thanks ladies, I'm a bit calmer today ha ha. Now I know a bit more about it I've relaxed a little, it was the initial shock at work of being told "it's not impossible but....". I will see what the doctor says on Monday when we go in, it's only been 8 months but she did mention maybe pushing us forward with treatment so fingers crossed :)

I have PCOS and I accidentally got pregnant with my daughter who is 2! Think positive! And good luck x

I went to see the doctor and my mind is at ease now at least for a while! She is referring us to a specialist in August as that is a year after coming off the pill. She said until then we are covering all options so i've had a few more blood tests, and i'm booked in for a scan in 3 weeks time to look for cysts. She did say to keep trying and hopefully when i return in 3 months time i will have conceived naturally and we don't have to go down the assissted route.

Now i know that there is help and a plan of action i am a lot calmer and just going with the flow. I know i haven't been ovulating so haven't been stressing (before i was like it could be this day.. or THIS day, why aren't OPK working? Why isn't my temp rising?!' i know there is a reason so i've just accepted it and have given up on all those things for now. My mind needs rest!

Good luck to all you other PCOSers, i hope we all have the news we want sooner or later :)

Well there is hope! I got my first bfp yesterday and another today, all natural :) :) :)

My half sister had/has PCOS and she used IVF to conceive her first and then the next 2 naturally, she even had tests after her first or second (was so close together i cant remember which-8 weeks between each pregnancy) and it seems like her PCOS had gone or been greatly reduced, normal periods came back ovaries came back all normal etc womens bodies are a funny thing :)

I went to the Er one day and I got diagnosed with pcos I started to cry because I really want a child when I went to see my obgyn she said that I might not have it but she tarted me of with bc pills I just got off it recently my fiancé and I are ttc hopefully it will happen have faith and hope Hun it will happen

There is hope for any pcos-er out there. I really did not think we would be able to conceive naturally and would need help and low and behold here I am holding my third test in three days! I think I can allow myself to believe it now :) good luck to you all x

I went off the pill after being on it for 10 years and my period never returned. I did a bunch of blood tests (none of which showed anything really) and had an ultrasound done of my ovaries which showed the `string of pearls`which is a lot of small undeveloped follicules.

I was referred to a RE (reproductive endocrinologist) and she prescribed me Metformin and said that I likely had a mild case of PCOS (no hormone issues, no weight issues etc). The metformin was successful in bring back AF after about 4 months I had a pretty consistent 35 day cycle (which was great for me) - I did not get PG on Metformin (although I hear of many people who do) - However after getting in with the fertility clinic and ruling out blocked tubes or male factor infertility - they gave me Clomid and I ovulated good and strong for 2 months and got PG the second cycle @ 50mg - so don't worry - PCOS is not a diagnosis that can't be very easily controlled with meds.
