I posted about this before but got no suggestions.. but I'm sure it must have happened to someone else??!!!

Obviously my LO used to poo quite a few times a day, when newborn, but I think it was about 8 weeks-ish she started pooing just once a day, quite reliably!

Now, for the last week or so, she poos almost all the time! I haven't changed just a 'wee' nappy in ages! She always makes lots of bottom noise, which makes it sound like there will be a lot in there, but is almost always a skidmark.

Because of the constant pooing and changing she has got quite a sore bum.. and for the last two nights she has woken up at 3am and 4am and I've had to change her.

Is this a phase? Is she eating more? (can't really tell as I'm breastfeeding) She hasn't really upped the amount of feeds she has.. Or could it be something I'm eating?

Any suggestions will be appreciated.. not liking the pooey nappy at 3am!!! :nope:

(I don't think it's teething - no other signs and me and DS were VERY late teethers..)

Thanks ladies.. :flower:

I found this happened around the same time as you, although Alice had always pooed a lot! The night pooing lasted about a week then she stopped again, which was a relief! I'd suggest getting a really good nappy cream and see how it goes. Hopefully it will sort itself out soon!

Ruby started doing this at 2months and it carried on without stopping. Health Visitor said to start weaning her last week (just a few days before the 3 month mark!) because she wasn't putting on enough weight. Apparently she has a very good digestive system! (and only having milk meant it didn't have enough in it to work on) I was a bit sceptical at first but Ruby was more than ready for it. Not only have her nappies improved dramatically but she seems a lot happier and even grins every time she sees her spoon too :)

Not sure if it would be the same for bf though as Ruby is ff.

Whatever is causing it I hope you get it sorted soon hon xx

By the way, we tried all sorts of nappy creams, then someone suggested vaseline. It's fantastic as it stops the poo and the urine from sitting on her skin. I won't go back to nappy creams now :)

my lo did this yesterday but she's got a cold so i assumed it was all the mucus she was swallowing...

Hi hun

I found this happened to my LO around the same time as yours. No idea why, I did put it down to teething but his first tooth didn't arrive until about 1.5 months later. It took about 2 weeks before his poos went back to normal again! I even had a stool sample done to check he didn't have a bug but nope....

Drooling more can make them poo more often and make their bums more sore. Is she doing that? If not, I'm afraid you just have to bear with it.. you will probably find it calms down in a couple of weeks xx

She is drooling a lot yes, I put a bib on her sometimes cause she seems to drench her tops! Maybe this is it then.. thanks for sharing! I shall grin and bear it! x

Leyla does that occasionally - she'll have a week of doing completely random poos or a lot more often, then go back to once every day or two. I think it's normal.

Love the dress your LO is wearing in your pic btw. Leyla has it too but she's growing out of it now

Ah, that is most likely the reason then  You might notice it smells slightly acidic too, that is also from the excess drool. Lovely eh! x
